Alas Patrick ... if only more weeds were edible ...........

Not exactly weeds Rod, but we certainly have our fair share of edible wild plants here on Vancouver Island, not forgetting the good old wild mushrooms and wild rice that grow in many places.

Just don't drink any hemlock tea or add it to any salad!! ;-)

Could you pedal an extra km or two per day for me? I'm trying to get in better shape. :)

They are debating bike lanes here Groove, would dare ride a bike on the street where I live. We also have those “Bird” scooters to rent for along the waterfront and downtown core....warm weather certainly brings out the bikers.

Morning all....will be warm and wet here today. Will get a bit of a break from the 30s C we’ve been running here...at this rate will be wearing out my lawn mower.
I think it’s safe to take the gas out of the snowblower.

Big day in Leaf Nation here.....game 7.....

Thought for the day.. are you listening Leaf fans....

Getting the day off to a decent start today. I'm not a hockey fan so I have been watching basketball the last few days.

Temps are supposed to be around 30 or 31c by mid-afternoon. It would not supprise me if we don't hit the mid to upper 30s later this summer.

It's a good idea to add some gas stabilizer as well, at least for the residual gas that remains in the carburetor and its diaphram/float bowl even if the gas tank is drained. It helps save any gum build up, water condensation and rust etc. and will make winter startup much easier.

Maybe I could try sending you some of our cool damp rainy Spring weather to help cool down those 30 degree Temps. That's too hot for us...

Slydude, I thought it was always hot where you are...so are you a 4 season state...winter, spring, summer, fall...or is it winter, summer, fall...

That’s a good idea Patrick, will look into it....I usually pour the gas into the car...especially now when it’s priced like gold.

We get four seasons but winter is sometimes short and usually quite mild. These temps are typical for mid-May (historically we hit the mid=20 this time of year). Fall and Winter are often short seasons.

Morning all....we have my favourite coffee on today....Butter Toffee, and served with Maple Scones....yum.

Leafs lost, so they are out...was a good effort but better luck next year.
It’s PBS day, so will be watching Marple then Masterpiece....

My thought of the day....a married man should always forget his mistakes...no sense having two people constantly reminding him......

Well that was a nice run of incredible weather. Took my bike out again yesterday still can’t believe how badly out of shape I still am.

we’ve had a lot of conversations about cashing out our downtown house here and heading to Vancouver island. Not sure I’m ready to leave city life and the industry here but the idea of living somewhere like, I donno salt spring island or similar sounds incredible.

We will be between 20s and 30s this week....had rain last night but looks like it is clearing.

That’s quite a move....not only distance but culture as well. Lots to consider.. once I made my area choice, I would go there as an extended vacation...rent a spot for say 6 months.....that is when you find out about the area...and things crop up for and against.... like understanding real estate prices, medical, that sort of thing.... it wasn’t until after we moved to Windsor that we found out that medical specialists, and even getting a family doctor, was a hassle....and once you pack up and move you may not be able to return..... but the topic is exciting.

I started out listing all the negatives for living in Vancouver Island but then realized the list was not relevant and many of the things I listed are affecting people every where. Life on Vancouver Island is much better than living on the Mainland and we wouldn't go back. The pace is slower, neighbours are friendly and everyone helps each other. But ... there is NO Apple Store.

I would be perfectly fine with no apple store, the few times I’ve ever gone into one always reminds me why I hate going into them. No disrespect to apple but the vibe inthose stores just makes me want to get the bell out within one minute.

I, like a lot of people, like to go to the Apple Store to put hands on the models. Sorry for raising your ire.

No ire raised. Just dislike them and prefer 3rd party retailers that are less busy and less need to squeeze through throngs of kids to see a max I might be interested in.

though perhaps one on the island might be less annoying than the ones we have here in Toronto.

Certainly no shortage of artsy-fartsy and musician types on the island and especially Salt Spring and other local areas around here, even quite a few musical instrument makers some of whom are world renowned.

But some of the prices are almost astronomical and beyond the reach of many easterners who have considered moving out here.

But I understand Toronto area real estate prices are not exactly cheap or even reasonable either. But we don't normally get much snow and certainly milder than Toronto... ;)
