Toronto real estate is off the scale currently, our house we bought 13 years ago is now approaching 4 and a half times what we paid for it and fast climbing. Most of what I looked at on Vancouver island will still allow us a lot left over. Vancouver however is another story, it seems about on par with our city.

crazy real estate for sure.

“artsy fartsy”???

I’m aware. Just so you know it’s not a flattering term.

I’m aware. Just so you know it’s not a flattering term.

It's not meant to be, and is quite appropriate in some cases.

You may even come up with a more derogatory phrase if and when you ever meet some of them.

But I must admit there are some very excellent artists to make a proper balance, it's just that some are really pretentious and really stand out, and a lot of the local islands tend to have quite a few of them.

I’m just pointing out it’s offensive. This is my industry and referring to us as ‘artsy fartsy and musician types’, is not cool.

there may be a few pretentious ones here and there, but there is in all industries. The vast majority I work with and know, are incredibly humble and down to earth souls, and the pretentious, are the very very small exceptions.

The pandemic. I didn’t move for two years. I’m a dumbass. It’s much harder to get back into shape in the late 50s I’m finding out!

Good morning all! I would like to share with you what I consider the quintessential Canadian folk song….Un Canadien Errant, written around 1842 by Antoine Gerin-Lajoie. In English the song is The Wandering Canadian. In its essence the song tells of the exile of many Francophones from Canada by the British as a result of the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837. Many of the Francophone were deported to the U.S., which is why I think there are so many Bretons in the Louisiana area. Loosely translated in English from the French it tells the story of a lonely exiled Canadian wandering in a strange land missing his homeland. He stands by a river and tells the river to go and tell his friends left in Canada that he will always remember them. If any of you have ever seen a licence plate from the province of Quebec you may notice the line in the song “ je me souviens” which means I will remember. Following is a translation ....

A wandering Canadian
Un Canadien errant

Banished from his homes
Banni de ses foyers

Walked along crying
Parcourait en pleurant

Foreign countries
Des pays étrangers

Walked along crying
Parcourait en pleurant

Foreign countries
Des pays étrangers
One day, sad and pensive
Un jour, triste et pensif

Sitting at the edge of the waves
Assis au bord des flots

In the running current
Au courant fugitif

He addressed these words
Il adressa ces mots

In the running current
Au courant fugitif

He addressed these words
Il adressa ces mots
If you see my country
Si tu vois mon pays

My unhappy country
Mon pays malheureux

Go tell my friends
Va dire à mes amis

That I remember them
Que je me souviens d'eux

Go tell my friends
Va dire à mes amis

That I remember them
Que je me souviens d'eux
O days so full of charms
Ô jours si pleins d'appas

No you are missing
Non, vous êtes disparus

And my country, alas
Et mon pays, hélas

I won't see him again
Je ne le verrai plus

And my country, alas
Et mon pays, hélas

I won't see him again
Je ne le verrai plus

Morning all, will be getting some rain today.....tomorrow.....the next day and so on. So we have a bracing Medium Roast with just a touch of licorice on today...served with our famous rum creme crepes......

Was movie and burger night last night. We have seen most of the films in the theatre so relented and saw Sonic 2. There were about 10 of us in the theatre.
I use a four point scale ( poor, fair, good, excellent ) and to my surprise I’d rate Sonic as good. Great for the tweenies with enough adult gags to make it quite entertaining...would recommend.

Ahhhh, the long weekend approaches..... I see Victoria can hardly contain her excitement....

To help the bees during the summer months
there are fewer flowers and other food sources for bees.
Water is so rare and so many bees are drowning while trying to drink in the pools.
Grate an apple and add some water to a bowl. Bees will be able to get the sugars from the fruit and drink the water and not drown as they can stand on the pieces of fruit.
Our bee populations are under threat, let's give them all the support we can.

Great idea...
It has barely hit 13° C here lately and it's been that way for weeks which apparently is too cold for honey bees to even emerge from their hives, so I don't know if they need water or any other assistance.

Haven’t dealt with the weeds in the backyard yet, I’m sure all manner of winged or crawly types are having a ball back there. The front I did years ago into something nice that pretty much is set it and forget it with some minor pruning here and there. Not that houses here downtown have much in the way of space. Though we have a detach and a bigger “postage stamp” yards than many others here.

Morning all....wet today, I can almost hear my grass growing and mocking me as I have to sit for a dry spell to mow it....but revenge will be sweet...

I’ve been watching The Essex Serpent on Apple TV+, enjoyable. Also watching Gentleman Jack on Crave....another great series...may not be for everyone.

Things must be getting back to normal here as the mail each day delivers more and more restaurant coupons......which is a normal event here in Windsor. My kids used to laugh at me for collecting coupons.....but now that they are out on their own with their own families.....it seems coupons are okay.....

I saw this thought for the day and found it interesting....similar to “ if the only tool you have is a hammer then you see every problem as a nail”.....but this one is more artistic I think...

Morning all….dull, warm and wet here.
For some reason the song The Fox ( went out on a chilly night ) is ear worming me…..it’s funny how some songs or ditties pop in there and rattle around for a while…

Have to put in a coffee order this weekend as the stores never seem to carry what I like ….I am intrigued by a Foster Banana coffee…amazingly subtle.

I‘ve been watching The Essex Serpent on Apple TV+….great series…had to get the book.
And feeling philosophical this morning as I reflect on what is beauty….

There’s been several foxes as well as a coyote sighted here on my street as of late, speaking of foxes. Never seen any here in the years I’ve been here.

When I lived in the country foxes and wolves were the norm. Living in the city not so much…but I did see a possum the other night…actually the first I’ve seen live….

Morning all…will be hot here today, temps in the 30s…. Time to close down the snowblower and drain it and set up for next year.

We have one of my favourite coffees on today…Wild Mountain Blueberry…set off nicely with warm muffins…enjoy.

Am narrowing my amp choice down…thinking the Fender Mustang GTX 100, then I can terrorize the neighbours.

Off to fill my BBQ tank…let the grilling begin!
