Ok it didn't take as long. From the time I slid the disk in until the install completed and rebooted was 1 hour and 3 minutes.

About This Mac says 10.6 and nothing else. Is there someplace else to look?

Well, I've been with Mac since the early panther days, started out with a brand new iBook 933 MHz, and upgraded to Tiger, very exciting, then Leopard... although I haven't really been using that for long having a G5 iMac 1,6 GHz.

I bought myself a MacBook 2.0 aprox. 5 weeks ago, wich had a dead battery, so wasn't very userfriendly, upgraded that one with a MacBookPro 15" wich is sparkling new and yes, I am going to upgrade to 10.6 next week.

So I wish you all the best of luck with the newest have-to-have:D

How do you know its installing. I click on install, it asks for my password, I type it in and click ok. And then nothing it just sits there and gives me the option to install again. No status bar or anything.

what have you noticed is different with snow?

The first thing I checked is my hard drive space.

This is what I have now with Snow Leopard

Capacity: 319.73 GB
Available: 145.02 GB

This is what I had with Leopard

Capacity: 297.77 GB
Available: 127.63 GB

319.73 - 297.77 = 21.96 GB, which represents additional space gained

21.96 / 319.73 x 100% = 6.87%, which is the percentage increase

Provided that I still remember how to work the math correctly, these figures are interesting. My capacity is darn close to the actual size of my drive.

With Leopard I had 320 - 297.77 = 22.23 GB of space not available to me or 6.9% not available
With Snow I have 320 - 319.73 = 00.27 GB of space not available to me or .08% not available

That's a huge difference! I'm I looking at this right?

The dialog window with status bar remained on my screen throughout the entire operation. I'm thinking the installer is crashing. It might be helpful to share with us a little more info about your system and whether you've prepped it in any way for the upgrade.

Just updated mine :) much better especially as I stole 2GB out of my mates laptop to put in it as well. Am noticing a few graphical improvements with Snow Leopard as well which is rather nice

I'm testing new QuickTime X by using built-in iSight to record video. The clip looks nice.
