I want to use Safari Beta but there is one thing that I don't like. You may be able to fix this by some setting but when I'm surfing and click the address bar to enter another web address, it will not highlight the whole address and once I start typing, erase the old address and allow me to enter the new. I have to place my cursor at the end and click and drag to front of address to highlight all and then start typing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Like most here I use both, but tend to lean towards the new Safari beta right now.

Thank you. It won't work. How easy is your suggestion to do?

Tell us the URL of the site, some on here can test it and see if it is possible to fool the site into loading, or whether it is truly an IE only site

My hotmail freezes with the new beta version of Safari, have to go to Firefox for that.

I use Firefox, but the only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have autocomplete when it comes to form-filling etc. Anyone know if I can do this?
I do love all the extras Firefox has - I use Read It Later religiously.

Firefox mainly and Safari for the sites that won't work on FF for Mac. I read that FF is the more secure browser and Safari's security is not so great. Don't know about Safari 4.

I like both Firefox and Safari.
The only reason I use Firefox more is that I can synchronize all my pcs for FREE.
On Safari it is done with 'MobileMe' , not free.

Safari 4 Beta is really cool with lots in neat features

To those of you asking about the highlighting address bar issue, you have to triple click the address to highlight everything. The first click highlights nothing, the second click highlights a portion of the address, and the third will give you everything. Hope this helps :)

Hey, I'm like the one Camino user up here. Hahaha, if I'm not on Camino it's Safari all the way!

I use both firefox and safari depending on what I feel like doing. It's a bit frustrating at times because though they both have very similar bookmarks, I'd like them to upload to and from the same bookmark region but I have no idea if or how that's possible to configure.

I want to use Safari Beta but there is one thing that I don't like. You may be able to fix this by some setting but when I'm surfing and click the address bar to enter another web address, it will not highlight the whole address and once I start typing, erase the old address and allow me to enter the new. I've found that you have to triple click on safari for it to highlight the entire address bar, and only single click on firefox to highlight the whole thing. This can get confusing when jumping back and forth between browsers #.#

Alternatively there is always the ⌘ + A option.

Firefox gives me the least grief switching between work and home connections. So, for the sake of convenience, firefox it is.

safari vs. firefox

i've always found safari 3.2.1's performance to be lacking, and used firefox alternatively. i tested safari 4 beta recently, and ran into the same problems i did with its predecessor (e.g. long load times, freeze-ups, weird issues with displaying images.. just poor performance in general). obviously safari is prettier and better integrated into the whole "mac experience", and you lose the pinch/stretch and three-fingered swipe gestures with firefox as well.. i just think it's the superior program.

Guys, honestly the best web browser is Omniweb, nothing compares to its speed, Firefox is a slave compared to this mess.

I would tend to agree...I just appreciate the Foxmarks on my Firefox for use at home (multiple PC/Macs) and work
