I primarily use Safari, but since its BETA (which the software update installed on me) kept on crashing everytime I use the close tab/quit Safari hotkey; I'm stuck with Firefox for weeks already. Firefox is good, but I've always preferred Safari over anything else.

Speaking of my problem, has anyone else encountered this? I'm still using Tiger (and I have no intention of upgrading yet).

I haven't had that exact problem but I have been having problems nonetheless. I also prefer Safari but have switched over to Firefox. It crashed on me multiple times, there are at least 10 sites that I no longer can successfully enter. I decided to at least temporarily use Firefox even though I used Opera for years and years because of "minor but irritating" habits it has.

I have had to go to Firefox

When I download an Excel file, Safari adds and 'xla' to the 'xls' file extension.

Firefox doesn't, thus I don't have to p*ss about deleting the 'xla' bit.

I do this many times a week.

It's a no-brainer for me, I like Safari, but I now use Firefox 3 (Beta 5) of necessity as I wish to keep what hair I have left. :D

I prefer Safari. I like to have most things Mac on my Mac, it's why I chose a Mac to begin with. I do have Firefox on two of my Macs, but I always prefer Safari over Firefox.

Since I answered this pole a while back, I've switched to Safari. Oh well, no way of hanging my answer.

Since installing Leopard I have switched back to Safari. Works just fine, faster.

Switchers always tend to install Firefox on their mac to give them some form of a remnant of their past days. But soon the dark cloud that is Safari swoops over, and after that you learn to appreciate Apple software and how it is designed. Once you go the Safari way, there's no turning back.
