Morning all. Sunny and warm this Victoria Day. Dry as well, so time to do lawn work.
We have some lovely Wild Mountain Blueberry Coffee on with my fav…hot Cinnamon rolls….any takers…

Had to feel sorry for Guinness, lots of fireworks last night…poor dog had no where to hide….hoping it will be quieter tonight.

Take care all, have a safe day.

I actually think a PHEV with a hydrogen engine is the key
You may be right I read that Toyota is working on hydrogen powered vehicles. Neat.

Yeah they go ballistic around here with the fireworks, it’s a wonder no one sets any garages on fire they light so many off in the alleyways here.

Afternoon all, sunny, a bit cooler here today with quite a breeze.
I heard someone use an expression that I haven’t heard in years…..” the rabbit died”, There is a great book called “Cultural Literacy”, written by E. Hirsch….

It details knowledge that was generally accepted a “common knowledge” in a generation that one is expected to know. Expressions are interesting as they can change meaning between the generations. A key to a gap in cultural literacy can best be summarised when you hear an elder say to a teen, or younger, “ what do you mean you don’t know that”. I wonder how many kids today know the intent of “ the rabbit died” , “ the grassy knoll”, there are many.

We all must have examples….

Hi, she is a pure bred Havanese.
My Havanese is 6 years old. Done a great deal of dog sports with her. Her favorite is barn hunt. She can smell a rat a mile away.

I didn't realize that Havanese could be good ratters, or any type of router for that matter.

My sister-in-law had one, but unfortunately, she tried to herd a car on a main road next to her home and lost.

They certainly do have a nice spirit and always seem to be full of spunk.

No Havanese here, though I do have a SIAmese here who is usually attached to me as much as she can be.

I'm surprised she's not perched up as high as she can get on your shoulder or maybe somewhere even higher so that she can look over the domain that she rules. Siamese are like that and what they were originally bred to do... protecting the monasteries in the tall Hillsides from their lofty purchases.

Ive had a number of them and none of them did that. I had a black cat that did though.

All of my siamese were more interested in a warm lap.

I guess that's what breeding and domestication can do.

Apparently, the original Siamese cats were also very large, at least very much larger than they tend to be these days.

Hi Patrick, et al….. the line from work animal to pet can be short indeed. During the American Revolutionary War many house holds kept what we would call free range chickens around the meeting house when the revolutionary planners had their sessions. The idea was the chickens would kackle loudly if British agents tried to spy on their meetings. These meetings were usually held around meal time, as having a number of “ friends over” was a good cover. In fact, they had a colonial dish which was usually served…… chicken-catch-a-Tory.

That is an excellent and humorous story thanks rp... :app :giggle

All jokes aside, chickens and geese can make excellent Guardian watch pets...
