Do you keep Paddington in the house all the time?
A friend of mine has a relative with a house trained rabbit - when they go on holiday the rabbit stops with my friend and it comes with a cats litter tray which it uses. Whilst mentioning this to someone else they informed me that it is not so unusual - first I'd heard of it like.
Can guinea pigs be house trained also?
Hi!
I've heard of that with rabbits. We had a neighbor once who would let their rabbit outside to walk without a leash. They stayed with the rabbit while he roamed, but he was free to do whatever. Mr. Bun was his name as I recall.
Guinea pigs don't house train very well, at least in my experience. We take Paddington out of his cage each night to run in the kitchen, which has a linoleum floor covering on it. We block certain places to keep him from getting away. Typically he'll try to chew on furniture and, uh, "relieve" himself wherever he wishes. He will use the tray if it is convenient, but not usually. Were he to have the run of the house, he'd likely also chew electrical cords. Once.
So Paddington lives most of his life in his cage. We take him out for breakfast and dinner, and his evening run. We take him out to sit and talk with him, and show him his face in the mirror.
