I don't mind Calibri too much. It's the default for some of our reports at work and not too bad. I'm always open to suggestions, though.

For me, the bigger issue is some of the interface elements in macOS, and don't get me started on the size of the text in the Music app.

I know there are vision-related changes that can be made in System Preferences but I find many of these changes distracting.

TinkerTool (the app, version 8.1) has an option where you can increase the font size and change the typeface for some of the default fonts that macOS uses. You do have to be careful though and experiment as some of the changes may cause overlapping or distortion.

But, TinkerTool is free and might be worth a try.

I have and use TinkerTool for some settings but with my failing eyesight and small fonts with the macOS and my 27 inch iMac, I just ended up mainly using the System Preferences > Displays and selected a lower scaled resolution that suits my poor vision. It seems to work quite well for my use.

That's okay Patrick. Anything that will help is an improvement.

I was looking at a high resolution 32" monitor by Dell. Wish I could justify buying it - hefty price tag but the monitor is a thing of beauty. For now, my 27" iMac will have to do.

I'm usually fairly broke by the end of December. LOL

I haven't used Tinker Tool in some time. I hadn't thought about using something like that. I might have to give that a try.

Maybe I should respond to the email from my optometrist and schedule that slightly overdue appointment. :smile

If it is anything like this model, I would probably have to put on my high-power hobby visor PLUS reading glasses to be able to read the default text at its native 3840x2160 Ultra HD 4K resolution. ;)

Good morning Randy, Thank you for your time and the video, most enlightening; there is one snag (at least for me). After highlighting then cmmd-c - how do I get the highlighted text into another document not on screen at the time? I did warn you that I am thick and stupid!! Fully qualified along with "VD and scar,
WC Chain and bar" after my name. Do not use them very often as in the past I have found people get envious!!!

Very best regards from Keith in Derby England.

Once you have highlighted something and pressed Command-c, do the following:
1. Open the document that you want to use (the one that isn't open).
2. Move the cursor to where you want to begin working.
3. Press Command-v to paste the selected material into the document.

If necessary, I can knock out a quick video tomorrow that demonstrates this for you.

Good morning Randy, Thank you for your time and the video, most enlightening; there is one snag (at least for me).

That's fine. There are no stupid questions. And as you know, many of us here love helping.

After highlighting then cmmd-c - how do I get the highlighted text into another document not on screen at the time?

If the other document is open, just click on the icon for its application in the dock at the bottom of your screen to switch to it.

If the other document is open, and it's open in the same application as the document you just copied from, either go to the Windows menu and choose the second document. OR, choose it's window by clicking on it. (It's window is likely sticking out behind the window for the document your copied from and you can click on the corner that is shows to switch to it.)

If the other document isn't already open, just navigate to it and launch it, then once it is open paste into it at whichever spot you like.

Let me know if any of this is unclear, and I'd be happy to elucidate.

@Keith,

If it helps. Once you have selected the text and done the Command + C to Copy, that copy remains in what is called the "Clipboard" until you are ready to Paste. So there is no rush, no time limit. After Command + C, take your time - open the document to which you want to paste. Find the place where you want to paste.

Then Command +V will Paste the item.

I should stress that you can only do one Copy/Paste at a time by which I mean that if you did Command plus C to copy, but then did another Command + C, the second one would override the first.

So it's always Command +C - have a cup of tea if you like - then Command + V. There is no time limit. Just don't do another Command + C till you've Pasted the first one.

Randy and Ian, many thanks for all you help; I do not know what I would do without Mac Forums and every-one who offers help and assistance. All this has cleared my mind on the subject and will practice when I get a rush of blood to the brain and some brain cells come out of hibernation as a result. Once again my heartfelt thanks to one and all.

Very best regards from Keith in Derby England,

In all honesty I have no idea how Judy slipped in here, it was meant to be "just"!!!
Sorry about that. The only Judy I knew was our long departed Jack Russell Terrier.

Nice offer Sly, but I would say there are more than enough samples already out there that one could find with a quick Google search on 'mac how to do copy paste video' etc. maybe some of these:

An especially nice, recent, clear and easy to understand video here, but surprisingly it doesn't really deal with text, one of the most used functions, at least for me:

PS: I also use "ClipMenu.app" as a multi-clip menu helper to overcome Apple's lame only a single-clip item, especially for text use:

Good morning Randy, With lots of thanks I do not think it is wise to overload the ancient brain box so soon after that last brain storm. I thank you for your time and patience, you and everyone else who contributed. If and when something else comes to mind I will send an SOS.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Very best regards from Keith in Derby England.

Next lesson...UNIX commands in the Terminal! LOL

(Seriously, what is the next thing that you want to learn how to do?)
Are you sure you are not a member Vansmith in disguise? He was determined to teach me the CLI. There isn't enough anti hive medication and itch cream in the world to take care of that allergic reaction. :smile

I used to do CLI, but I got into a 12-step program and have been code free now for several years. :)
