There's nothing about the new macbooks that makes me think less of my 2.0Ghz Macbook...now if they had included something better than the Intel GMA 960...a boy can dream.

Getting rid of intel gma would have been something to get excited about!!

Its annoying because I bought my 2 GHz white MacBook for 1449 Canadian Dollars few two months back when I could have spent that same exact amount today and get the 2.16 GHz processor and 200 GB HD. So its not just about the processor speed, its the price !!

If you buy a laptop or any other non user upgradeable unit you always hit this problem.

You have had two months computer use, isn't that worth something?

Whilst the on-paper spec increase might not get anyone excited, it does up the stakes for PC Laptop OEMs, which is significant. 12 months ago, $1500 would have gotten you a 2ghz CD MacBook with 100Gig HDD (which I have) - now the same cash gets you a 2.16 C2D with a larger HDD. A 2.16C2D is a fair bit faster than a 2ghz CD in any benchmark.

come on Apple... That's the best you can do. A minor processor upgrade and a bigger hard drive?

Plus with any new product you get teething troubles. Better to have a good solid product with all the problems documented.

The product isn't end of life yet. Be thankful computers can be refreshed. If you buy a digital SLR camera (for example) at the end of its shelf life you don't get faster processors and more storage.

But if you're going to be fair about that analolgy, other electronic products become significantly more affordable throughout their lives - Apple maintains the price point and upgrades the specs.

It looks like the mac mini and imac should be getting an update soon http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

I don't agree with their prediction of the imac about to be updated. They might add something into the lineup, but I think the current models are here to stay for a while longer.

What did you expect? As a few others have said, this was just the upgrade that was necessary to make them more competitive. I mean come one, a computer over a thousand dollars with 512mb ram? Boosting up these little things makes huge selling points for people comparing them to similarly priced PC's. Plus the fact that any other upgrades out on the market such as Santa Rosa or LED's are more specific to the MBP's for now. There's really nothing else they could have put into the MB's without having to justify a price increase as well... and then they wouldn't really be consistent with the MB lineup anymore.

I would not worry too much. Has happened before - at least according to my financial management book. Oh, btw, Apple got mentioned in my textbook this week. Thought that was interesting. :)

I guess You long time mac users are spoiled, I see the mb, mbp, & especialy the imac so far ahead of the windows oem that it seems like star wars tech to me! Anyone want to trade a mac mini for a GW pentium 4 700s desktop?...............Ahhh Did'nt think so!!

i just bought my macbook 45 days ago

I got mine 25 days ago from an Apple Store. Is their exchange policy 14 days? I suppose if I did exchange, I'd have to eat the 15% restocking fee, which would probably amount to more than the value of the upgrades. :(
