Maybe you could add this to the first post?

To take a delayed screen shot of the login screen (which is owned by root), or to get a good Dashboard or FrontRow shot open Terminal and type:

sudo -s

(Type your admin's password)

nohup bash -c "sleep 60; screencapture ~/Pictures/screen.pdf"

The number 60 is seconds, you can change it to whatever you want. You can also save it to whereever you'd like. Enjoy! :mac:

When I take a snapshot of my dock using the Command-Shift-4-Spacebar thing, all I get is a gray bar with no icons. Is this normal/is there any way to take a snapshot of my dock and have the icons show up?

You have to hit Command+Shift+4 which brings up the little cross thingy...this cross thingy lets you drag a square around whatever you want to take a screenshot of(your dock in this case).

Hitting space turns it into a camera which will only take the shot of what's high-lighted.

When I use dvd capture it takes a picture of the whole screen and not just the movie scene. Am I doing something wrong? I wish there was a command-shift-4 option for it.

Old thread, I know, but the simplest method I've found is this:
System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard Shortcuts, and then change "save picture of screen as file" to something simpler than apple+shift+control+4 or whatever it was. I used apple+F13, because F13 was free and it's sort of close to where the PrintScreen key is on a PC keyboard.

I don't remember if you have to go to
System Preferences -> Universal Access --> [x] Enable access for assistive devices
first.

You probably mean the clover shaped icon...
It's the command key: The one with the apple on it.

Not the apple logo... sorry guys! I can't explain properly. well, How do you open the "Special Charaters" in Safari or add "New Smart Folder" in Finder using shortcut? There's keys you need to press and I don't know the first key. :black:
