As I understand it (which, I confess, isn't much), it's not just a case of extracting sound files. The OP needs the software in order to program SFX into the Zimo model railway sound decoder chips. Fascinating: I had no idea model railways had got this fancy!

Good thought. I was about to ask the same question. I figured there must have been more to what the software was doing than just a sound conversion. If it were just a matter of converting files from one sound to another there're are several options that convert from almost anything to something else.

I also wondered if the software was using some kind of proprietary sound format.

Hey guys.....

Pete has already solved his problem by buying a Windows computer. Read his reply above.

No need to offer any more solutions.

Hi again,
Sorry not to have replied but for some reason the notifications aren't coming through again. I only realised that people had been posting because of the weekly newsletter.
The win10 laptop is still on it's way though, so I'll let you know how I get on when it's here and set up.

You only get ONE notification the first time somebody responds. The no more notifications until you return and read the posts, at which time you will reset the notifications flag and get one more notification on the first response.

If you have been using Mail to handle incoming mail that might be part of the issue. I have noticed that Junk filtering seems to be inconsistent even with mail sorting rules in place. Notifications from this site and several others I visit, as well as several other pieces of email, routinely get tagged as junk. Changing that designation seems to work for a few days and we are back to the same behavior.

Maybe I missed a notification Jake. Yours came through OK.

I use Thunderbird mail handler, but it looks like it's down to me missing the email.

Yes, because my post was the first after your post just above mine. But you didn't get a notification of Slydude's post because you had already been told there were new posts since you last were here.

Hi again,
The win 10 laptop came through and seems to work OK, albeit clunky and slow after the macbook air. I have free Malwarebytes on the macbook and I've downloaded the free full trial version on the windows laptop. I sent an email to a computer repair man who said he thought I might have a virus. I can't remember which one I used, but I've done the Malwarebytes scan on both and they came up with nothing. Windows defender hasn't found anything so I'm at a loss. On the macbook, I've run Detect x swift and virus barrier scanner and they found nothing, so I assume that if it exists, it's on the Lenovo laptop. Back to the repair man I suppose, to see if he can find anything on win10.
