If you look at the polls, it seems that firefox is catching up on the leading safari....

its too bad that I cannot try out the new safari on my Mac...
Its a Powermac G4 with Panther on it.

How come? I have a G4 Quicksilver and run the new safari (with Tiger).

I use 10.3 Panther on my machine.

Sorry - my mistake I thought you meant you could not upgrade to Tiger and hence the problem. What can I say - some days I am slower then others. :D

I prefer to use safari over firefox, only because it seems to fit in with os x better than firefox does, however sometimes I find that safari doesnt load web pages properly

which is why you should try camino, it renders pages exactly like firefox, and blends with the OS better than Safari

I use Opera mainly, but I also use Safari and Firefox, too. I like all three of them, actually, but I love the mouse gestures in Opera, and I use the Mouse Gestures extension for Firefox, though it's not quite as smooth as Opera. My only complaint with Opera and Safari is they really gak on MySpace...just freeze right up. Firefox does OK, though, that's one of the main things I use it for.

I guess I'll download Camino and Shiira (?) just for the heck of it. I'm an Opera junkie, though. :D

I've been using Safari Beta 3 for the past week or so, and it really kills Safari 2. Much faster and stabler.

The one thing that keeps me from switching to Safari full time is the tabbing feature in Firefox that allows loading of preset pages on launch of the program. I tried to find this feature with Safari and the best I've been able to come up with is the Saft plug in. This only works halfway when it will reopen the tabs for you, but only on the last place you visited. Annoying or maybe I'm ignorant of some magic setting.

I find Safari fast and well designed.

Try SafariStand, I think you can have preset workgroups, that will launch on startup.
