I only own macs so I guess i use them for everything. I use Virtual PC for all the stuff I bring home from work (except I can't get sigma-plot and a few other apps to work in VPC so I only do that stuff on the computers at work). I am writing my master's thesis on an old 'pismo' powerbook that I also use for browsing, mail, powerpoint presentations, and data handling in Excel. I edit/print photos and edit video/burn DVDs of my 9 month old on a sawtooth powermac g4 (that i purchased full price new back in the stone age of 1999). I also use iChat A/V with a web cam to video conference with my in-laws so they can make faces at the 9mo. I recently got an old power tower pro, which I break and then fix just for fun (I'm going to try to install Ubuntu linux on it soon). The wife uses her ibook to write short stories, browse, email, etc.

Play games, write my PhD, net (you know the drill...browsing, researching, buying, eBaying, blogging, mail, IM, forums...), home-run business (selling coffee machines of all things...), iTunes and iPod things, DVD backing but most importantly watching, iPhoto and lots more. Everything I do is done on the Mac although I have another few PCs sitting at home and doing nothing. Naturally, as one becomes more proficient on the Mac, the PCs get naturally phased out, unless you want to play the latest game that isn't out for Mac yet. I too use it as a night light, I put it (let's say HIM shall we) to sleep and slip him between my bed and bedside table. The sleep light is VERY handy, especially for finding the way to the door when my dogs call for the toilet at night (invariably between 3.15 am and 3.30 am). An advertising photographer friend of mine has to be the most proficient Mac user I have ever known. He does all of his digital artwork on the Mac and in fact he doesn't just have a Mac he has like...4 last time I went to see him with screens

Have a look at the retouching section of his website for some truly outstanding Mac-enhanced work!

My powerbook is my life, literally. I interact more with my aluminium baby than with normal human beings, sometimes. I use it for Final Cut Express, Word, Excel, MSN, watching DVDs, iTunes, iPhoto, Snood (the best timewaster in the world) and Mail.

I use mine for everything except for gaming. My PC has a much stronger video card so that games look / play better. Not to mention I have the PC version of most games out there. Other then that I use my mac for everything.

I am a full time student and part time DJ. I use iTunes to do all my DJ/Music related things and iMovie/Final Cut Pro HD to edit numerous videos for my TV Production class in school. Other then that, the usuall (Safari, Word, iPhoto, iDVD, iChat, Mail, etc.)

Made the switch about six months ago; I already own an iMac G5, a Mac mini, and soon a 12" Powerbook. I'll never go back, and I've already convinced a few people to buy macs of their own! (They want me to work for Apple as a sales rep).

I plan on using my mini for many things. Browsing the internet, Instant messaging, and a music program from school called "Smart Music"(i'll have to get a new mac copy next year). I might also use theGIMP and GIMPshop . I'll use GIMPshop because I learned how to use photoshop on my uncles powermac:D.
