Hmmm.... Well, beside for schoolwork, graphic design. I show off with it. I bug people with it. I check Winderz users in the back of the head with it. It makes an excellent lunch tray. It works great for doing reps at the desk. It works great for catching all the pop that I have spilled into it. It works as a great night light while on and while in sleep. And it even works to reach those hard to itch places.

I use mine for running my business (I don't have to spend time rebuilding and running antivirus), chatting, listening to music, my kids use it for music and school work - and I like to show it off to people

I use my Macs for recording and writing music. I have been playing guitar for about 17 years now, and piano even longer. The Mac is an excellent machine for musical work. And since GarageBand came out, it is even easier!
I also use my Macs for all my generic, everyday computing needs...internet, email, office apps, a few games...etc.

D3v1L8oY, what software do you use for your music writing. I do some on the side with Finale, so I was curious what you use...

I used to record with Cubase SX, and I have tinkered around with Live...but since Garageband came out, I pretty much only use it now. I don't "write" so much as I play what's in my head, and maybe I'll take the time to notate it later.

I remember when the G5 first came out and all the cheese grater jokes. I rather like the looks of the G5 since I first saw it in person.

I happen to **** alot of people off, don't know why. I bought my mac for very light Office X work, iChat, iTunes, and Safari. The good thing is that people associate macs for heavy duty work, or professionals. I just use mine like a typical person would.

I'm a graphic artist, so Mac is my life! My first Mac was a Mac classic with a black and white screen!...ok...I'm old! ;)

«Introduced as the first sub-$1,000 Macintosh in October 1990, the basic Classic came with 1 MB of RAM, a SuperDrive, and space to mount an internal SCSI hard drive. The hard drive version came with 2 MB of memory and a 40 MB hard drive.»

I have a Classic in my Mac collection just like that. 2 Megs RAM and the 40 Meg HDD. Got it at a thrift store for $7 with keyboard and mouse. Still works too.

My first Mac was a Plus with 2Megs Ram and I upgraded it to the Max of 4! That still works too. :headphone

On Ebay it might have gone for $20. The Thrift store if something does not sell lowers the price till it does.

Ha! ha! It just remember me that I sold my mac classic with a 9 pins printer for 300$.... 10 years after it worth 7$...amazing! :)

By the way dtravis7...I'm glad to know that is someone who is older than me on this site! ha! ha! ;)

I'm a graphic designer as well, and I'm not that old, and even I have used a classic, good old classic. I hated those dam keyboards though, like chopping wood with your fingers. :)

I'm a graphic artist too, but I'm afraid much to young to have used the classic. My first Mac was this 17" Powerbook that I'm typing on now. Not a half bad thing to start on though...

I'm not as old as you may think, its just that I worked with some designers that were stuck in the past.:) they loved the 6" display, and the 45 MB of storage space.lol.
