Well the WWDC keynote was EXTREMELY disappointing!!!!!

Yup. Boy, does that ever seem like a copout to me. "No third party apps.... erm... you really want them, eh?.... sure, write all the third party apps you want, just make them in AJAX or Java or something, but you can't touch the OS".

It seems like a copout because it IS a copout. I was at least hoping that they had given Google greater access, so that I could use Gmail on one. Unfortunately, they didn't, and the iPhone is still more or less useless from my perspective.

It was a Leopard-focused developer conference keynote, and it focused on Leopard and software, I don't see the problem. They'll show us new hardware when it's ready.

?? What, so you can't make calls on it? It is a phone, after all.

I daresay Google can write a GMail client for it fairly easily using Web2.0, that's the whole point. Web2.0 (or more accurately AJAX) can be extremely powerful using something like Google Web Toolkit. Personally I don't see a problem with limiting what third-party developers can do. I don't want the worlds airwaves clogged up with the results of whatever some script kiddie wants to write on his iPhone, it would be a disaster.

Seriously, come on people, let's look at this in a broader scope. 300 features...so relax and let the developers actually look at the stuff available, and wait for the full information to come out. I'm plenty sure that there's a lot more information than what was just given in the Keynote.

Personally I thought it was worth it just for that Finder upgrade, which does look pretty good - coverflow everywhere! Lets hope they finally got network shares working, instead of the broken nonsense we have now.

Hello? The keynote was Leopard-focused, so he talked about Leopard. Perhaps he should have called you to check the script beforehand...

Obviously? I would think you'd actually wait to see a list before making a sweeping, unobservant statement like that. That's like saying "Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is going to suck because it has water in it!" Take a chill pill and wait for the WWDC to actually let information on the new items come out.

Not everything is going to be discussed at the keynote.

This I can agree with. My slight skepticism of the iPhone aside, I think the upgrades brought with Leopard are pretty sweet looking.

I'm hoping that's true of a lot of the "behind the scenes" stuff. There's definitely some things like printer port redirection that I'm hoping they've improved. It might not be a big, flashy feature that will be appreciated during a keynote, but it will improve the lives of many users.

Personally, I'm left feeling very excited about Leopard. They may not have gone into as much depth as I'd like, but even the features I'd already heard about looked much more exciting in action.

The revamped Finder looks like it has some much-needed features. It looks like it will page through images as well as - if not better than - XP or Vista. That's enough to get me to open my wallet. Let's just hope it makes it to the market sooner than projected - much like the release of the iPhone after 6pm today instead of the 29th.

I'm more excited too. I'm wasn't going to upgrade before, but I really like the new Finder. that and my student discount have me convinced!

Really I don't know what you guys want. I'm THRILLED with the new polished desktop and the Stacks! My got the Stacks! They're soooo cool, especially for a GTD freak like me.

The finder update was obvious and welcome, and I hope it'll make stuff easier to find. All the litle additions are very welcome, and are small improvements over the entire system that make the advancement substantial.

I'm excited, guys. The stacks, oh my god, the STACKS!

Also, Front Row has a nice new interface to match Apple TV, and Apple's new Website is gorgeous! I absolutely love where they're going.

The Safari thing is just brand awareness. People who buy the iPhone will eventually be enticed to use Safari on their computers as well, Apple seems confident about this because it worked with iTunes.

I too am a little bit pulled back down to the ground because Apple didn't drop the bomb but I myself didn't know what I wanted that to be. The new dock is a beautiful idea and all the little polishes make the system more eye-candied but more functional at the same time.

We can see core animation all over here.

I am very curious to see what they're doing with iWork and iLife, I'm rather bothered by that. But I'm sure they're doing something, and it's darned cool.

I love Mac OS X. Mac OS X is more important to me than any bling bling macbooks or iPhones... Me wuvs me Mac OS X....

Oh, and if you didn't notice, the user inteface has been unified across all apps to the iTunes smooth metal look.

Me too. It crashed immediately following the requester to enter proxy credentials (this is on my XP box, on my desk at work). Looks like a pretty major bug right out of the gate. At this point, it's useless to me, but I wanted to see what it looked like anyway.

Yes, and they'll likely release that information either during the conference or after it. Let it take it's course, and wait a couple of days before touting your disappointment...

And Vista is likely to throttle itself with Vista...not like that's hard to do...kind of like eating a chunk of undercooked horse meat and wondering why you got sick.
