I hate that I'm not technical, but could an iPhone version of Adium be written using AJAX (or whatever it's called lol).
Me too. It crashed immediately following the requester to enter proxy credentials (this is on my XP box, on my desk at work). Looks like a pretty major bug right out of the gate. At this point, it's useless to me, but I wanted to see what it looked like anyway.
Since I am new here, and I'm going to be switching from a PC to a mac (well, I'll still be keeping the PC, but I WILL have a mac), would NOW be a good time to go ahead and order my iMac, or should I wait till the end of the week? Are there usually more announcements throughout the week during the conference?
Keep in mind that the PC Safari is a beta version (at least that's what Steve said), so it won't be perfect right now. This is still Apple we're talking about, after all.
I installed it on a Dell Optiplex 3.06HT with 2GB RAM and XP SP2 will all service packs. It worked fine on this end. There was one pause when I checked a few settings in preferences, but since then it's been solid so far. I even used it to post a couple of messages here on Mac Forums! Time will tell.
A couple of other PC people I talked with had the crashing issue. Maybe it's just with some hardware.
Apple knew what they were doing. Releasing updates on MB's and MBP's, adding a new option on Apple TV all before the Keynote. I don't know about any of yous, but updating all that stuff before Keynote, made me think they were just clearing the way for a bigger presentation of updated hardware at the actual Keynote. What a flop!
EDIT: I'm so mad Safari 3 doesn't work with Panther. Never thought I'd see the day an Apple Software product works on XP before my SLIGHTLY outdated system.
Anyhoo, does anyone know what the system requirements are for Leopard? Would they be the same as Tiger, or more? Or are they going to be outrageous like Vista? I need a nice portable laptop (my current laptop is too heavy to be a laptop, but not as powerful as a desktop...it's kind of an annoying computer, lol), and I've been wanting a Macbook for a long time. If there's some good student deals on in the fall, maybe I'll go ahead and get myself one. I just love where Leopard is going and it looks like a great step ahead for the OS.
My machine is a little older than yours. I believe it's a Dell Optiplex GX270, 2.8GHT with 1GB and an 80GB HD, running XP SP2. Are you guys using a proxy server?
I don't know what people expect.
I have to say that I think Leopard looks really, REALLY cool. But the whole keynote speach was disappointing, unfortunately. Most of the things Steve talked about were already well-known. Over half of the "new features" had already been revealed. I was just hoping for more.
By no means am I disappointed with Leopard (I think it will be nice update to a great OS), but I'm just disappointed that there wasn't more when there were supposed to be these "top secret" features that were going to be revealed.
