Hi Everyone,
Macbook Air 2015 – running Yosemite, wanting to update to Sierra. But currently can't –
I no longer have access to my old Apple ID because I lost both my password and my authentication key in a freak accident!
I already had a second apple Id, so I am using it instead. I signed into iCloud on Safari with the new one and iCLoud sent me to the Apple.com to configure everything, to wipe all my documents on the cloud, which seemed largely to be my me.com account and email. I then went to iCloud in Settings and signed out of the old ID and into the new one, no problem. I signed out of the old one in iTunes and in with the new one, again no problem.
However, when I went to the App store to update the one App that I bought with this old Apple ID, I hit a snag. In the ID field, my old ID is there greyed out, so I cannot change it to the new one. This means no OS updates either, which was the main reason for signing out of the old ID in the first place.
Does this mean that I will have to reinstall my whole OS? Surely there has to be a work-around. Hoping one of you might know what it is.
Thanks, Carole
