Morning all....we have Vanilla Biscotti coffee on this morning at e Inn....any takers.......and of course we have a selection of Biscotti for you to try.

Went and saw “ Everything, Everywhere All At Once” yesterday......hmmmmmm,
Might have enjoyed it more if I had some “ gummies”....... I think even Timothy Leary would have avoided this one.

Acting was good, hard to tell if it was the script or the visioning....but a bit to much “symbolism” for me and, in this cut, about an hour too long. If you wish to see it, I would wait for the DVD.......however Jamie Lee Curtis and the lead were very very good.

Well you’d be safe walking the streets here with that leafs jersey on ;)

I saw the beibs taunting montrealers on the bell center stage with being a die hard leafs fan. I’ve all but given up the last time the leafs got the cup I was 2 years old!

Groove, I was a bit older than that....but it has been a loooooooooong time. Funny thing, down here everyone is a Leaf fan, you see jerseys everywhere...when I moved here I thought the Wings would be huge....but not so...we also have a large contingent of Habs fans as well. I think the biggest two teams here are the Lions and the Raptors.....Detroit is definitely a Lions town.

Morning all, hoping all is well in your world. We have a nice Chocolate Mint coffee on at the Inn...served with some freshly baked Blueberry and Cranberry Oatmeal cookies...so enjoy.

I am starting to get into the baseball season again... my prediction for the Series this year is SAN Diego in the NL.... a bit too open for the AL as yet...maybe in a month or so.

Tonight on PBS is an instalment of Ken Burns’ excellent series “ Country Music”. I’ve watched this series about five times, I think it is great.....which is interesting since I’m not a country fan.... it’s very much worth watching if you haven’t seen it.

I’ve been working on curating a list of one chord songs for the ukulele group I belong to...there are many many one chorders out there...who knew.

I’m thinking coffee has a hard time around here.... it seems to get mugged everyday.......

Morning all, dull here today with a chance of rain..... on the menu today is our Medium Roast served with badshoeday’s Hot Cross Buns...enjoy...and...

A little boy was listening to a long and excessively boring liturgy of the passion of Christ in church on Good Friday.
Suddenly the red sanctuary lamp caught his eye.
Tugging his father's sleeve, he said, "Daddy, when the light turns green can we go?"

Good thing you don't live close by or there wouldn't be any left by the time your friends got there. If my efforts at "quality control taste testing" just happened to get a tad out of hand, I can't be faulted for that now can I? :)

Morning Slydude, how are you and yours today? I must admit I would “taste test” those Hot Cross Buns into oblivion as well. It was a tradition in my family that they were served for breakfast on Good Friday.

Family Traditions are funny things... we often take them for granted. I remember some of my family traditions seemed completely alien to my wife..... Hot Cross Buns were one such tradition, building a Ginger Bread House at Christmas, Cinnamon Rolls on Christmas morning to name a few.

All is well here. We had a bit of severe weather earlier this week with a few tornadoes north of us and enough heavy wind and rain for schools to be closed mid-day on Wednesday.

Traditions are interesting things and as I meet/interact with more people I find more similarities than differences. As I recall, hot Cross Buns weren't on the menu, but there were other similarities at Christmas or other times.

1. Coffee was a big deal growing up and still is to my mom. As a kid, I grew up drinking coffee with a large amount of milk added. It was also not uncommon for visitors who materialized about mid-afternoon to be offered a cup of good stout coffee with some sweet treat.

2. Although coffee was a breakfast staple the meal often included biscuits rather than some other kind of bun (American biscuits, not the British version).

3. An offering of food/drink to visitors is often considered a mainstay of hospitality. Sadly, that tradition seems to be disappearing as more people are working outside of the home. Unsuspecting visitors might gain a few pounds if they visited several homes on the same day. :)

I'm sure there are other similarities.

Slydude, coffee and treats were a mainstay for visitors when I was growing up...a habit I still maintain today.... although it appears people are more “treat” conscious than in my younger day

People in the UK are manic tea drinkers but I've never liked it. Tiny tins of powdered Nescafé emerged in the 50s and it was only Chinese or Italian restaurants which served up real coffee even in the 60s. I went to uni armed with a coffee percolator and The Bero Book (trad English baking), never looked back. At home I use a cafetière (French Press in US) and out prefer filter coffee or an Americano rather than ultra strong espresso. One of my favorite desserts is affogato - hot espresso poured over vanilla ice cream, preferably with a shot of Amaretto).

Funny reading about similarities and differences. I went on an exchange posting to CFSME Chilliwack BC in 1984. When Xmas came we did as all Brits do and put up decoration indoors which all my colleagues found amusing as their decorations were outdoors. Made sense to me as everyone could then enjoy them. It’s a tradition we adopted and put up lights and outdoor decorations as well as the traditional indoor ones. Need to be careful though as I’d hate to be accused of ‘cultural appropriation’.

Badshoeday ( is it Sue?! I’m Rp ), we here see tea drinking in the UK as almost stereotypical.... and sometimes that portrayal is humorous...as in TV shows ... someone gets the cr*p beaten out of them and a cop makes them a cuppa.

When I was younger I used to love hard French Vanilla ice cream with a spoon of instant coffee mixed in....., and we have a number of French Press lovers here.

Ian, where I live we are right on the U.S. border...and the U.S. decorates everything...Christmas, Easter, Halloween, you name it....and it’s outdoors and indoors..can be quite pretty at night to see all the lights and such...and of course we copy here.

For a bit of fun I've tried counting the number of cuppas in soaps like Eastenders and Coronation Street! Drowning in it.
