Merry Christmas to everyone! It's been a few very cold days for Mississippi. We are not accustomed to very cold weather, 10 degrees F a couple nights in a row (I think that is-12 C). One of my aviary heaters went out so I spent half a day yesterday replacing a fan switch motor (never done that before). Had to bring a few very old (40+ years smaller parrots in but they are fine). Job would have taken only 20 minutes max but I dropped the same screw twice an could not find it the second time. Had to go to another heater (Modine propane) not being used and steal one off it.

Spatchcocked a turkey, cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, hash brown potato casserole, 7 layer salad. We are in carb overload now. Pie and real whipped cream in a few minutes.

Doggies had a special treat for breakfast--Fresh Pet--and turkey bites all day.

Merry Christmas to yo99uy as well.

That menu may be the required holiday menu if you're here in the deep south. I have the waistline to prove it's delicious.:)

Wow... Sounds like the unusual cold got down there and affected the renowned southern hospitality or at least put a damper on it...
I hear it should be warming up in a few days... So maybe things will get back to normal...

Anyone getting any boxes for today to help celebrate Boxing Day??? ;-) ;)

Maybe it’s the wine, but before I agree to 2023 I want to read the terms and conditions.

Maybe it’s the wine, but before I agree to 2023 I want to read the terms and conditions.

Unfortunately, they are not always binding nor are they always enforced.

Everything seems to be conditional these days which may carry on through the new year...

But I will say it and hope it sticks...
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAVE A GREAT 2023

I like that :) :smile

It's Auld (old) and it's a Sign directing you to Lang. In fact: An "Auld Lang Sign" - which means a lot to me being Scottish. Nice one.

Happy New Year to all. At The Gather In we endeavour to start your day with a friendly smile while keeping you informed on curious items such as

The New Brunswick Department of Transportation found over 450 dead crows on Highway #2 East near Salisbury Big Stop this past week, and there was concern that they may have died from the Coronavirus.

A veterinary epidemiologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was NOT Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The cause of death was actually from vehicular impacts. However, during analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws.

By analyzing the paint residues it was found that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by cars.
NB DOT then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviorist quickly concluded that when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow to warn of danger.
They discovered that while all the lookout crows would shout "Cah","Cah" not a single one would shout "Truck"!!!

And all I can say to that is anything else posted to the forums has got to be better... I hope.
This has to be titled Super Groner I would think... And things can only improve... I hope...

Yes I did crack a smile RP, even though I had heard the joke many years ago. Thanks for starting the year off on a pleasant humorous note.

Morning all….cool here today, dull but dry. As many of you know I am a ukulele player….I often research music for the uke groups I belong to. Well a song popped into my head this morning and I was doing some research on it when I found this……so either this is from the Lawrence Welk show or there is more to my Colombian coffee blend than what’s on the box….

Morning all. Sunny and cold here today…currently 2c, but at least there is no snow..

Maybe it’s the wine but why is it that only roosters are allowed to wake up screaming……..
