The Beattles were big like Elvis was big. They were pretty much the prototype boy band. Women dig that stuff in ungodly ways. Who are we men to think we could ever understand?

I hate it when there's a company that sues a bigger, far more important company because they can. It's not like Apple Corp is doing anything wonderful with their name. If any business is being done with them, it will NOT be confused with Apple Computer. Still, there's a rash of these types of cases going on. Upholding the loopholes and technicalities over reason. I'd be surprised if Apple Computer didn't lose again.

Apple Corp: "Hey, gimmie money. C'mon, you know you should."

Apple Comp: "Geez, you guys again? .... alright, but for cryin' out loud, get a day job."

Now Elvis is BIG - even Micheal Jackson [ as weird as he is] But the Beattles? I can't see what was soo attractive about them. The only guy out of the Beattles i liked was John Lennon.

That's it.

Paul McCartney is soo over-rated.

if the Beatles were ugly, id still listen to their music. what i like about them, is that they were all talented musicians. as in they could all write, sing and play a lot of instruments. i think most of the popularity in the US was due to their image, but back in Europe, i think they started out as respected musicians. well at least in their hometown outside London

I don't pretend to know an awfull lot about them.. and i eat my words on how they looked - but still it puzzles me how they were seen as sex gods in them times. As for their humble beginnings, i believe your referring to Liverpool.

Jobs comments on Beatles lawsuit

Jobs comments on Beatles lawsuit
September 17, 2003 - 11:08 EDT After his keynote speech at Apple Expo yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs commented on the legal struggle between Apple and the Beatles' Apple Corp. "Apple Corporation and Apple [Computer] signed a legal agreement more than a decade ago. I wasn't there, and it says what each company can do with their trademark," he said. "I inherited that, and right now there's a disagreement about this. It's a trademark dispute... We might have to get a judge to decide on it." Also of note, Jobs chose to play a Beatles song, "In My Life," performed by the late Johnny Cash before the keynote speech.

My Comments: It's getting interesting :)

Apple computer is a globally recognized trademark. Those people at Apple corp don't have a leg to stand on. Their just looking to claim "damages", the greedy so and so's.

I bet it's not even on the stock exchange.

It'd be interesting to know when both company names were registered.

Apple and The Beatles

Just like Bob Dylan once said "Don't criticise what you don't understand". Lots of people seem to be knocking the Beatles because of empty, spurious reasons like:
1.They're dead. So are Bach and Tchaikovsky. So are Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix. Does death instantly make your work irrelevant?
2. "They don't do anything for ME". How sad.
3.They're being greedy challenging Apple Computers. In fact Apple Corps was set up amidst a blaze of publicity in 1968 and the brand was world famous for at least 15 years after that. The Apple Computer brand was introduced in 1977? So who is exploiting who in this game? The Beatles have every right like any other artist to protect intellectual copyright if they feel it is threatened.
4.The Beatles are over-rated or over-hyped. The standard cry of the airhead who has nothing useful to say about the subject. If the Beatles were over-hyped, their record sales would have gone through the floor 30 years ago and that would've been that. No informed critic of today would take them seriously. These things have clearly not happened.

Jobs: Apple/Beatles lawsuit could drag on for years

Jobs: Apple/Beatles lawsuit could drag on for years
September 28, 2003 - 21:08 EDT The legal battle over name rights between Apple Computer and the Beatles' Apple Corps may take years to settle, according to Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Jobs told The Times (UK) that the disagreement over the use of the Apple name and the iTunes Music Store is destined to be decided by a judge. "We're going to have to take it to court to find out who's right," Jobs said. "It's really stupid. We can't reach an agreement, but the courts could drag on for a few years." Jobs also said: "The whole thing is unfortunate because we love the Beatles."

My Comments: Boy.. I might be posting to this thread for a long time! I wonder if the Beatles were all alive.. if this wouldnt even be an issue.. and the relatives are just greedy.. or if this would happen regardless.. I guess we'll never know.. The sad thing is that I don't see anyone except the Beatles looking bad with this suit...

i understand your points, but i doubt people will confuse Apple records with Apple computers when it comes to music. This is no more than a frivolous lawsuit

With that said, i guess the Beattles are more memorable with the older generation... cos i don't know anyone who owns a Beattles album. Yes they were famous at 1 time... but it's over.

My generation know's very little about the Beattles - except that they were a global brand during the 60's. Movie's like Austin Powers, bring the spotlight back to the beatles - but i repeat - i know nobody who owns, even 1 album.

As far as I see it, Apple signed an agreement not to enter the music business, and now they are selling music. They signed a decade ago, because they didn't have the foresight to see that the music industry would become tied together with the computer/hardware/software industry. They've violated the agreement, by selling music, and I think the Beatles have a right to hold them accountable. That's how business works.

Why Apple doesn't just buy Apple Corp, I don't know. That would solve all of their problems.

Well, Apple Corp might not be for sell.

I think that's stupid. Nobody is confusing Apple Computers with Apple Corp. I think only .0002% of this world's population knows what Apple Corp is.

And Xer0, I'll probably change my sites appearance to look like the Forums. I haven't decided, nor found the time to try.

Beatles see no future in online music sales

Beatles see no future in online music sales
October 14, 2003 - 10:41 EDT There are no plans to offer the extensive back catalog of the Beatles online, BBC News reports. The decision was made by the band's record label Apple Corps, which is also presently suing Apple over the use of its name and the iTunes Music Store. Geoff Baker, a spokesman for Apple Corps, said: "We have no plans at the moment to go online." When asked why the former band members were not putting their music online, he added: "I do not think there is any reason for it at all."

My Comments: They really are an unfriendly lot aren't they?
