pm-r I ran AdwareMedic and it found and removed Spigot and Genio. Now I'll watch and see if "You have run out of application memory" problem returns again but I am very optimistic that the demon has been found.

That's good to hear and no doubt found and destroyed all the offending gremlins. ;)

I like to shutdown and reboot or at least restart when purging such stuff to make sure they aren't lingering somewhere or somehow. Like some of those things that can't be deleted from the Trash as "it's in use by something" and nothing is running that could be using it. Always wondered about those sort of files… ;)

So glad you were helped by this forum. I am constantly impressed by Adware Medic and usually run it first just on spec whenever odd issues like this crop up. I am wondering if the full address of the offending script (found usually by hovering the cursor on it) mentioned the words Genio or Spigot? These are well known malware packages and any simple methods of detecting them would be good to know. Either way you now have some valuable knowledge and a handy tool for future use, I would encourage you to donate to the developer of this great app. Donationware like this is gold and the selfless people who produce these apps need and deserve all the help we can give them.

Adware Medic listed 3 check boxes under Spigot and 6 check boxes under Genio that were deleted however I didn't make a record or copy them down so I don't know if the full address of the offending script mentioned the words Spigot or Genio.

Thanks, not a problem.
