For sale. I purchased the last 32gb iPad at closing time from Best Buy. I don't want it. Can I sell it here? I have not been a member here very long and I'm not sure how long I need to be to start selling and trading.

My problem is, how do I get rid of it? Best Buy has a 15% restocking fee and I do not like dealing on eBay. I see a lot of over priced iPad's from money hungry folk. The other thing is although it is new, I have tried it out so now it's used. I didn't remove it from it's plastic, plug in headphones, or flip the screen rotation lock switch. I did load a few movies and apps.

I gave it a fair shot and tried to be excited about my purchase. Everytime I touch it, it reminds me of why I sold 2 different iPod Touches. I have an iPhone and a couple of Macs. I have no need for this and from my own experience unused iPods don't store well. You need to perform quite a bit of battery maintenance. It would be a shame to tuck it in a closet with the rest of the forgotten Apple products.

I don't think you would have too much trouble getting that iPad off your hands since they are the hot item on the market right now. I'm willing to bet someone here would be willing to buy it off of you.

Throw it up on craigslist. You can always do ebay but remember ebay and paypal don't look out for their sellers.

I disagree, it seems like a lot of people from Mac Forums are very against eBay and PayPal, and all the reasoning it's not really backed-up, and I haven't really seen any of it happen.

And I'm not meaning to offend anyone, as you can see I've been a member here since like 2007, I don't have tons of posts, but I'm more of a looker than a poster a lot of times, until I get really into things.

I've dealt with eBay and PayPal since 1999, and I'm a faithful buyer and seller since then. I use PayPal for almost all my online transactions, and I've had my fair share of disputes as a seller, and honestly the only time I was every ripped off was when I bought and sold a Powerbook G4 on here.

Not to blame the forums, but even then the guy put me on the Good/Bad Seller List on these forums, and he was obviously ripping me off.

It's all about knowing the in's and out's of eBay and PayPal. I'm a faithful buyer and seller just like I'm faithful to my Apple Products. eBay is amazing, and Apple is amazing.

If I were you I'd throw the iPad up on eBay. You could make good money that way, and in this economy, what's the hurt in making good money?

iBook G3 - You'll be missed.
I think Paypal is the preferred method actually. We just have to have proof of purchase or proof the pictures are owned by the seller.

I have done many transactions here and on other forums with mostly no issues using paypal. The only thing that really sucks is that paypal likes to take a chunk of your cash, but it's not a terrible deal. You cannot really 100% with a check or money order either. You don't know if someone stole the money or something like that.

I think paypal would be a fine method of transaction to be honest.

eBay got me good, i sold a MacBook to a guy in another country, he waited one day filed a claim and even though I had tracking it took over 10 days to show.

He got the MacBook and money no more for me.

Same thing happened to me, I got burned twice on iPhones first one was $480
The second one was $730. Both times eBay/Paypal refunded the money no questions asked. I was out the iPhones and cash. At that time I was ebay powerseller, ebay & paypal is fine for small transactions. Dealing with paypal when you have a dispute like that, is near impossible.

I came home from the gym around 6:30 this morn and read a few post about listing on eBay. I've only had one bad experience and so has my wife. Her's worse than mine. I went for it anyway, I started filling out the listing form. It is now 5 minutes to 8. eBay has changed a little since last I used it. I gave up, way to confusing and I'm a rather impatient when it comes to filling out forms.

I am now thinking about Craigslist, which nothing has happened good or bad. I mean nothing. I have listed 3 things on Craigslist and the only emails or correspondence I received were clearly spam. I guess, this is why I'm no salesman.

Anybody interested on here drop me a PM. I would like to get $700. This will cover cost, tax, and interest charges. I don't want to ship out of the lower 48.(eBay ruined it for me)

If it doesn't sell I guess I'll get some more bonding time and love to love it.

Thanks for all the comments. I wish I felt different about this latest Apple product. Maybe my expectations of the next iPhone ar ruining things for my relationship with my iPad.

I agree, I don't even us pay pal anymore, rather meet in person not worth the loss of money or items.

I lost a grand worth of R/C equipment. I got the same apology. I no longer deal with buyers out of the lower 48 states.

Update: during the process of giving the iPad a fair chance. I am currently in my dialysis chair. I am using my MBP as my iPad will not connect through wifi. Dialysis was the main reason I purchased one. I have to hang out for 5 hours and my MBP gets rather warm as most of us know.

My personal experience with ebay was bad until I stopped using paypal and had customers either wire me the money or send a money order... Paypal makes it way to easy for thieves to get your merchandise then simply call paypal and dispute... Paypal is so much more on the buyers side than seller... im actually shocked they are still in business with all of the horror stories.

Personally now i use Craiglist and only do in person deals with people... you dont have to even sell outta state anymore local people work best!!!

protect your goodies peeps lots of con artists out there loooking to relieve you of your Mac's play it smart dont give them any opportunity!

Good Luck

I do the same thing, plus with craigslist your not paying listing fees, final value fees or paypal fees.

Great advice. My wife almost had me convinced to try eBay again tonite. She said maybe it'll teach me a lesson on impulse buying.

rfe, try craigslist. I do most of my buying on craigslist, and even a lot of selling. Although you always get more for Apple products on eBay, obviously.

Buying on Ebay is cake, It's the selling where you get shafted. Ebay & Paypal fees have gotten ridiculous. Plus there is no real seller protection.

With Craigslist it's always cash, And cash is never a bad thing.

I've gotten ripped off both ways. But the bad experiences never have outweighed the good.

Here's your seller protection, as soon as you get paid, transfer the funds quick, and get them out of your bank account. LOL! HAHAHA
