I personally find his comments to be incredibly idiotic, considering his position in the world. First off, he's basically condescending to the audience whom he is reaching with his statements. He's doing this by assuming that those whom have an interest in consuming information via those methods he's talking about, can not decipher information, from misinformation.
Secondly, and I think more importantly, he is addressing an important issue, but on a very small scale. He's managing to single out a type of technology which has managed to evolve into what it is, faster, than its preceding counterpart, print and television media. The problem with this, is that the larger issue, has been the catalyst in not only breeding stupidity within the masses of all technologically savvy societies, but it also continues to be the leading cause of all misinformation upon which these societies base their most important opinions and decisions.
And this larger issue I speak of, is the media in general. There is no such thing as integrity in modern television or printed journalism... Perhaps there might have been at one point in our history, but I've never seen or felt it in my life. Big corporations run the show, not journalists. We're inundated with useless products in commercial after commercial, just sat there like a vegetable waiting to hear what we 'think' is the truth when all it ever is, is a slant in the direction they want us to sway with.
And let's not forget how quickly these 'professional' journalists would have us visit their Twitter or Facebook sites... because that must be absolutely key in reporting !
Well, I could probably go on for a long while on this topic, but I haven't the stamina right now. I'm tired. Let Obama call 'shenanigan's' on the more important things in life, before trying to tackle a complicated issue such as in that link. Let him address the people of the world and tell them to stop being whiny children who have to form small rights groups for every time someone who's views they don't agree with, happens to breathe the same air space they do. Let Obama address issues such as idiot school administrations not letting teachers fail students for not having learned anything.
Let Obama send out a message first, to those annoying and schmucky parents whom feel that every kid who plays ball is a winner, and that there can't be a loser. Let him tell his country that it IS ok to lose, that it IS ok to be in a fierce competition where ultimately one will win and one will lose, but both will learn valuable lessons therein.
Let him take on the issues which are turning the whole of the United States into sniveling little babies, and give people a bit of incentive in order that they gain more confidence and fight to actually produce something, rather than outsource everything.
In my opinion, he's not much else other than a fairly well spoken preacher, whom is pretty much... saying nothing. Reminds me of the James Brown song, Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothing. Meh, different president, slightly different tactics, same ol' story. Sorry but.. a politician is a politician is a politician. He's no different than the rest. So long as we abide by the currently ruling monetary system, this will NEVER change. I know that sounds a bit over the top, but it is nevertheless true.
