Here's mine. I see some of these in the body of the post instead of a link to the attachment. How do I do that?

I might be "renovating" the Dock sometime in the next week. But this the current Dock.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.3 on a 1.25Ghz Mac Mini.

Hi to all ! After getting lots of helps from this forum, I have joined it. Hope that this continuum will carry on.

Here's mine, new user to mac (~1 month) and love tinkering with things.

The dock is in the bottom right-ish, and each of the tabs on the bottom left hide other programs (most of the time I open things with spotlight though)

I am new to Macs and I was wondering how did you set up your dock like that?

So I'm trying to make some custom icons and I've having a bit of a problem.

As you can see on the App store icon, the white background is still there. Even though when I open the same picture in preview it's not. When I change the icon it appears. Any ideas how I can get rid of it?

what format is the original image?

it needs to be a tiff or png.

also, before pasting it to the app, open it up in preview, drag a box around it, and hit cmd + c. then hit cmd + i on the app, then select the top left icon, and hit cmd + v.

I've tried it with both tiff and png. I'll do the second thing you said though. Thanks.

EDIT: When I try to copy and paste it like you said, when I bring up the GEt Info page for the app and select the Icon, there is no paste option. So pressing cmd + v does nothing.

Ok, so I figured something else out. The copy/paste thing you were saying to do only works for applications I download from the internet. So far I've gotten it to work for Firefox, Guitar Pro, and iTunes. But for applications that came on the computer (dashboard, app store etc.), it won't let me past in a new icon, so I have to use Candybar, and when I do, it shows the white background. Anyway I can override whatever is keeping me from pasting new icons to those certain apps?

This is where I'm at now. Anyone know how I can change the icons for the Apps folder, the trash can, and Finder?

for apple apps, you need to "authorise" them.

when you go into the get info inspector window, change the r/w settings for "everyone" to read and write, then paste on the icon, then change it back to normal.

That section is grayed out, so how do I change that. It's my laptop so I have administrator settings. Thanks for answering all these questions. :)
