I have a MacBook Pro 15" A1707 (2017). It received neither chock nor blow, but until 3 days my LCD is completely PINK with a large black band in the center. When my screen is open 20 cm the screen is OK. But 15 cm or 25, it is PINK. I also have a Thunderbolt screen and the image is OK all time.
I call Apple but all shops are closed right now in my country. I have read many articles, forum, watch youtube video. Some people say that it is possible to change this cable: https://www.bestinmac.com/en/boutiq...ces-retina-touchbar-a1707-late-2016-mid-2017/
I open the Mac, this cable seems not damaged.
I don't understand what happened, and I write to you all tonight to have your advice. My message is a bottle thrown into the sea.
Is anyone has an idea if it is this cable or complete screen to change?
Thanks in advance for your kind answer.
Luca

Welcome to our forums.

The symptom you described is quite common and has to do with a defective video cable or loose connector. Even though the cable may look okay and the connector looks tight, you should first try reseating the cable to the connector. If that doesn't work, the video cable may need to be replaced.

Hello Chscag, I just bought the cable now. I will tell you when it will be replaced. Hope very much that it is the cable defect!

Hello Ferrarr, I will try first to change the eDP cable, and then I will think a little to change the complete screen.

I called the cable provider yesterday, who gave me technical service. They told me that they doubted it was this cable, they also considered that it was rather the screen. Thank you very much for your answer (hopefully you're wrong!)

If the screen is okay when you open the lid 20 CM, then there is nothing wrong with the display. I would not take any advice from a cable provider. Most of them know nothing about Macs.

Keep in mind that there are more than one video cable and connectors that could be affected. If you need to see the layout, go to:

www.ifixit.com

And look up your model.

I nicely receive the flex cable and change it.

As the supplier told me, replacing this cable didn't change anything. It's not that flex cable. I took the opportunity to examine all the connections, it is very strange because none is pinched or twisted. All is correct. I don't understand where this can come from? I am desperate, my computer is 3 years old...

If anyone has an idea, I'm interested!

Well, something is not flexing properly when you open and close the lid on your machine. Did you go to the site I recommended above? Just because a cable is not pinched, twisted, or frayed, it doesn't mean that it's good. Especially look at and possibly replace the LVDS cable.

Again, go to www.ifixit.com to look for it.
