I have run disk utility and now the general tab is working but I still trouble with out look can only open it from the App Store .where normally when you click on an app in the App Store you get the message to download but I get the iCloud icon, I have looked in iCloud but don't see outlook or Microsoft in the cloud.?

Do you mean a little cloud symbol? IF so, and if it's in the App Store, it's telling you that you had downloaded the app at one point, but it's NOT installed on your Mac and is offering to download it again. So, basically, you have NOT installed Outlook. It won't appear in your AppleID iCloud account online because iCloud doesn't have anything to do with it.

So, you need to actually install Outlook on your Mac if you want to run it.

Installing MS products is not like installing other things on your Mac.

One place to look for Outloon is in the Launchpad. Apps from the App Store usually show up there. On my system, Outlook is also in the Applications folder under my account login name. Click on FInder, look in the left sidebar for Applications, go there and look for "Microsoft Outlook" in the folder. If it's installed, it will be there.

This page from Microsoft explains how to remove all MS Office apps from your Mac individually. Uninstall Office for Mac - Microsoft Support
Removing Files from your User Library folder is the important part.

Follow the instructions to the letter.

As time consuming as this part may be it is essential to remove these files or conflicts will occur preventing you from installing and running these apps.

After all of that you can go here, sign in and reinstall MS Office 2024 for MacOS or parts of it. Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac - Microsoft Support

Personally I recommend installing the whole suite of apps then deleting the ones you don't want which you can do by simply dragging them to the trash, which, as I hope we have already made clear does not remove all of the other system files listed in the Removal instructions in the first link, the ones that are currently causing you problems.

Yes, it is a little expensive but cheaper in the long run than 365 which requires yearly subscription. Have a search around for "specials" on line but make sure they are reputable and link back the the official MS site like this one; Microsoft Launches Office 2024 for Mac and PC

Last but not least, having removed the offending files from your system you should be able to download Outlook again from the App Store and successfully install and run it but as with all MS apps you must have a MS account or you will be unable to register or use the app.
