Macbook Pro 13" (mid-09) | Specs:(2.26Ghz CPU,2gb ram, 160gb HD, Nvidia 9400m 256mb DDR3)
I just purchased a JanSport Rush Hour: JanSport - Product Detail for RUSH HOUR and love it.

The bag is is made for a 15" laptop but my 13" MBP fits perfectly. the laptop compartment is fully padded and there is a Velcro strap at the top to keep the laptop from coming loose inside the bag.

The bag has a magnetic closure along with locking cam buckle; plenty of room to fit my laptop, my schoolbooks(only one a time) a 5 subject notebook and 2 folders, my charger, external HD, Wacom Baboo tablet and school utensils like pens, pencils etc...

I am worried about this and didn't see anyone reply to this. I'm going to get the new MBP and wanted to get this case, but I don't want it to ruin the screen, so if anyone is using this, please let me know if it is hurting the computer at all or if it was just the older MBPs that it did it to. Much appreciated!

Not sure if anyone has replied to this yet.....but, I have the Speck SeeThru Hard Shell Case for my MBP 13" & it works great. I have not had any scratching issues, or any issue with closing the lid. It seems to stay in place (very snug to the machine) & does a fine job protecting the exterior of the aluminum body.

Hope this helps.

I use a computer sleeve from Briggs and Riley. Although it is a little more expensive than the other two options you’re considering, but it is much lighter and has some amazing features. It’s dual density foam base and fleece lining protects my laptop from damage. The sleeve comes with Briggs and Riley’s “Simple as that” lifetime warranty. You can also check out other laptop sleeves under their @Work and Verb collections if this one does not suit your requirements. As far as durability and quality is concerned, I can personally vouch for that.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Keep in mind that any skins on your Macs to protect from discoloration, or spills for that matter, are also going to cause overheating and higher fan speeds (more noise).

I've been considering one of the Booq bags for my MBP 17". On the less expensive side, the Targus XL seems like a decent bag.

Anyone have any experience with either of these?

One of the problems I have is where to find all these great cases in person. The apple store has just a couple of the MBP 13... haven't looked at BB yet. That InCase looks nice, but I use a ThinkTank "snorkel" case for my DSLR and it is awesome. Wish those guys made 13" notebook cases as well... I don't think so but I'm going to write them.

They do make this one for the 15" types. Wonder how sloppy the fit would be.

Overkill... but very nice
51D50D2WKRL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

This case will, if pressed, accommodate... one 17" laptop; one 10" laptop; 2xAA, 2xAAA batteries, plus a charger; a power inverter (cigarette lighter in car --> 120V); a power splitter (3-way, plus USB charger); a security card reader; a digital camera; a BJC-85e printer + spare cartridge + battery + charger; four USB hard drives (2.5" platter); a Pentax DSMobile 600 scanner; a Nokia N810 PDA; those lovely retractible USB cables with interchangeable heads/connectors (two sets); and an external DVD/CD reader/writer.

This case can be thrown around, dropped from 8 feet, crushed in the cargo hold amongst all the other luggage, thrown, kicked, and generally abused. The worst result was that the Nokia PDA's protective case got a slightly warped hinge.

I have just ordered the Speck black satin see through hard case for my 13 inch MBP from Amazon for 34.95 free shipping. I was a little worried that it might make it heat up, but a lot of people are using them with no problems. Can anyone here say one way or another?

Issues with InvisibleShield

invisibleSHIELD is expensive, but IMO the ultimate protection and no added weight option.

ZAGG | invisibleSHIELD | iPhone, iPod Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

Not sure if anyone else has this issue - our InvisibleShield MBP is susceptible to ink transfer from magazines, newspapers etc. Zagg has two opinions on this:

  1. that the shield was damp from the install 12 hrs earlier so the moisture wicked onto the paper causing the ink to transfer
  2. that this is normal because the shield is porous so please use these Zagg cleaning products to keep it clean

The first opinion was offered the day after the install so it seemed reasonable. 2 weeks later, to be told that this is normal is bizarre because it means that unless I want to keep cleaning ink off the bottom, I can't set it down on anything printed.

I am new to the forums but would love to have some other InvisibleShield users comment on this.

Cheers and thanks,
David

I have not had that particular problem, but I have noticed yellowing in spots where my laptop stand (Rain Design mStand) makes contact with the bottom portion of the Invisible Shield. Unfortunately, nothing seems to remove it.

Additionally, I have had issues with the corners of the pieces lifting, getting dirty and no longer adhering to my MacBook Pro. I contacted Zagg and they sent me out a replacement (I had to pay $15 or so for shipping). I found that they only replace it once - so the "lifetime" warranty is somewhat deceiving - they will only replace it once.

I've been able to get away with cutting those hard 90 degree corners into a curve, which alleviates the lifting problem. But I'm not sure that I would buy it again.

Hi, I've been looking around for a good case for my Macbook Pro 13" lately, and I've narrowed it down to three bags. I'm mainly using it to safely transport my Mac with a few accessories like the charger, a mouse, and possibly a thin folder also.

Any thoughts (positive or negative) would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just received my Macbook pro 13"

41AjXdyBfiL._SS500_.jpg

This has to be one of the nicest cases i have seen for the Macbook but i have read some bad reviews regarding it.
1- not true carbon fiber
2- might hold in allot of heat
3- doesnt close all the way, magnets dont click
4- and standby/power light is covered

here is another version of the above case from case-mate, havent foudn too many reviews onit .. just one on youtube ... seems there is no trble with the case closing and all the cutouts are there... just also tends to get finger prints onit .. more of a shinny carbon fiber ... but there is one review which says that it woudnt fit on the 13" macpro 13 but on the site it says that it is compatible. this one also is $10 cheaper

Apple MacBook Unibody Suits - case-mate

So, i then moved onto the popular speck case
base_media

The negatives i have read about this is that it is just plastic on the inside so u have to clean every so often and to make sure things dont get stuck in there that might scratch the laptop. Also its a finger print magnet. Other then that .. all notifications are visible. The battery button and infrared slot dont match up perfectly but not a real deal breaker.
My only question is what does the Apple look like when it is on and shines through the black case? is it more of a blue color or purple color? from different reviews i have seen different looking colors. Can anyone provide info?

this one looks like the speck case but has a cutout for the apple symbol which looks real nice
Ebay speck case look alike , apple symbol cut out

i am also open to other suggestions for the macbook 13" ...

Anyone have a sleeve recommendation for a late-2009 unibody MacBook with a Speck case on it?
