Explains my problems...d4rr3n said:Nightblade: you are definitely right on with what you said about hardware problems causing crashes. There are alot of hardware issues that can affect stability, anyone that overclocks will know about them. Wether it be your ram speed, timings, voltages, heat issues, etc etc. They can all play a huge role in how stable your computer is, and if your pc is spitting out erroneous values it won't be stable no matter what OS is running on it. I'd definitely recommend anyone having stability problems in XP to run a few benchmarking/break in programs like Prime95 and Memtest to make sure it isn't a hardware problem causing the crashes.
You sir, are a God.Now for graeme and whiteshark. I think it's really sad when you say anything positive in here about a pc or windows people take it as an attack against macs. Why am i a troll for saying my 2 XP setups have not crashed while using them. Did i say anything negative about OS X there? It seems neither of you want to hear anything other than MAC IS GREAT XP SUCKS MAC IS GREAT XP SUCKS. It's this type of delusional fanboyism from the minority that gives the majority of mac owners a bad name. Why should i go to another forum because i like pc's, i also like macs and would like to learn more about them. Each platform has it's strengths and weaknesses and you should be able to discuss them here.

My macintosh has been up for about 3 years... with about a total of 5 days of not being on. All transporting from college and back. Has not crashed a single time. The finder in the early OS 10.1.? and 10.0.3/4 has crashed but the OS stayed standing, as long as the core crashes, applications like the finder can be shut down, crashed, even erased if you feel like dealing with code or / lines. I push my mac to its limit, and a few times I have had a upsetting app crash, but nothing major. I do restart everyonce and a while, but I never shut it down for more than an hour. ( cept transporting from college which takes about 5 hours)
An over reaction here. Really. We only posted our feelings and some facts from what we have seen. I never called you a troll.d4rr3n said:Why am i a troll for saying my 2 XP setups have not crashed while using them. Did i say anything negative about OS X there? I'm not here trolling trying to get a rise out of people, sorry if i read it wrong or if you think i am. I may be a overreacting a little, but it's just the types of things here that get to me (not just here but every mac site). Some people's attitudes about the whole mac vs windows thing. They just seem to want to close their eyes and pretend everything is perfect and that there is nothing a windows pc can do better than a mac and won't accept that a mac has some room for improvement. This type of blind faith in a company/product is never good for the consumer. I like apple and i would like to see them be successful and actually compete with MS. I have been looking into getting a dual G5 for a little while now, but there are many shortcomings this system has that has kept me from taking the leap and nobody seems to be addressing them. It just seems that too many people are content with what is being given to them and what is being told to them specwise and benchmark wise without ever questioning it, and i find that kind of disturbing. :/
