Do you hate the beach ball because your computer is stalling? or because is a silly beach ball?

I don't like the stall. But it only really happens when my iMac wakes up, or I try to use some weird application that wasn't programmed right. Other than that I really don't see it. I only have 768 Megs of RAM, so I could probably use a litte more. Which would involve me going into the "Service" part of my iMac. But I guess the warranty is over, so I should probably go for it.

make sure you get the special heat glue they use.. it might void the warranty, but apparently parts will over heat if you dont

Hmm... Ive got 512 in my iMac

and I see it when I open my usual apps after restart. iTunes, AIM, Safari, Mail.app, Control Pannels, Gølive.
(course I open them all at the same time)

Thats really the only reason I haven't done it yet. But there are places out there that sell kits for this. I should probably check them out to at least find out what kind of goop I would require to make a good seal.

Heat glue applied to what?

Are you suppost to use heat glue on the Memory module pins?

I am confused.

...And besides the fact that it's outdated and has been enormously derailed... isn't this the sort of thing that should be built in to the OS?
