Thanks for that reminder Randy. I had forgotten that there was a standalone version for Office 2016. That price is comparable to what I paid for Office 2011 shortly after it came out. The main reason I paid for that version is that I expected to be running some Excel macros. That's no longer much of an issue so it might be a good time to try some alternatives.

I have tried both Open Office and LibreOffice in the past but they both seem kinda slow at times. Pages can save to Word format which I need. The document formatting is fairly basic and has transferred pretty well in the past so that should be OK but I'll do some testing to be sure.

Not much difference from your softwarepug suggestion I'd say, but a better price "on sale", and while it lasts. Plus credit card protection if needed.

Gee, how about that, the sale must have been extended again ;D and conveniently for me as I have 6 hours remaining each time I check. Anyway, it's still too expensive for me and my old MS Office '11 will probably do me for many more years or some other alternative.

That particular ad and the guy who does it is a real PITA. I usually hit the mute button when it comes up. Besides, his pillows are too doggone expensive, sleep good or not. Our local Big Lots stores here in Fort Worth have them on sale along with the rest of the "As seen on TV" junk that's hawked.
