Hey guys,
I just bought this MBP (2.4Ghz early 2008 model) on eBay. The MBP was in wonderful condition, with no fingerprint on there, in its box, with all software etc...
I took this MBP to my work (1st day of my work) and since I had no bag for it yet, I put it into my shoulder bag that wasn't the best for it. Well, the strap snapped and the bag that was hanging on my shoulder went down - the laptop hit the ground on the corner (No major damage on the outside - a small ding). The corner in question is top right corner (if you are looking at the keyboard in front of you - adjacent to the power supply input)
I started the computer and the screen seems to have these spot light like dark lines that go across it - from bottom down
please see this picture:
I figure from my reasearch that it may have something to do with LED lights?
I tried to open the macbook to see if i can find a way to sort it out (ie if it is a cable that has been pressed or similar - but stopped doing it as i ran into problem with star screws and will continue the work ones i get a screw driver that works tomorrow).
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it may be?
I am able to open it and am usually pretty careful with these things - i used to put many PCs together back in a day, from scratch, so i know a fair bit about it all inside - but most definitely, i have never handled the macbook pro in this way.
I was hoping to check the video cable (which i did) and then to try and get the LCD itself open (take the shell off) and see if the cable was 'pressed' there perhaps?
The odd thing is that the corner it fell on is AWAY from the video cable...
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you
Lav
ps. there is no warranty on the mbp, so i cannot take it back and would like to try and fix it myself (to save on money) if however oyu know of a good service place in brisbane, AU - please do let me know
