I know you're not saying that, being an Honda owner.

I wouldn't be too suprised if there was a memo between the auto and oil industry planning this whole scheme up. They're both dirty IMO.

There is such a huge margin when selling an SUV. People flocked when gas was $1.50. Now they're stuck with a worthless pile. As soon as gas prices went under $3 a year or so ago, SUV sales skyrocketed again. Gas prices immediately picked up again. I expect the cycle to continue.

You make a half hour drive to work seem like it's worse than death.
It's not easy finding a job out of college that's close to work. I would say a half hour commute is average. It's certainly below average in Chicago.

You might want to reread my original post.

A half hour is no big deal, however, the job is an hour and a half from where I live.

So did you take the job offering $12 an hour?

Mhm. I decided I'd take the job and live out of my car if that's what it took.

I guess I skipped over the word hour. Sleeping in the car works I guess. Just wear a lot of Axe. :)

I'm back. I got selected for Jury duty. I was one of the first 10 to be called and question by the lawyers. Yesterday, they removed 6 of the 10, and I was one of the remaining four, guaranteeing that I was on the jury. But about 15 minutes later, after the lawyers went into the back, they all came out with the judge, and said that we could all go home, it was settled out of court. Yay. It was a medical malpractice suit, so it would have been like a 2 week trial. So glad I'm not stuck sitting in there for 2 weeks.

For $12 an hour, I can deal with having to go to Tim Hortons for internet access and sleeping in the passenger seat of an S-10.

It's not a bench seat? I've only been in one s10 and it had a bench seat.

I've slept in my car overnight and that was no picnic. I'm 6ft tall and I had to sleep in my del Sol which is fitted with a pair of s2000 seats which are shaped like racing seats.

I have the extended cab on it, for added comfort, lol.

And I lived out of my car for a solid two weeks once. Wasn't horrible, better than the floor of someone's dirty house.

I *love* my iPhone.

I took these when I returned from lunch a half hour ago. Today is "Take Our Children To Work Day." Fairfax County (Virginia) Police do a lot of outreach programs with the community, so today they brought one of their helicopters to one of our parking lots. After it was shut down, lots of kids and their parents went to look at it. It was pretty cool.

I did that this year. Believe me, it's a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun. Band camp is fun because you get to see all your friends a month before school starts (Of course going from 8 AM - 3 PM five days a week isn't exactly my idea of summer vacation) Football games are also fun, you just have to make time to socialize after the game. Competition can be a drag since it's usually on Saturday, but in the end its worth it.

The only part I didn't like was after school practice. 2 hours a day, (4-6, in addition to regular band class earlier in the day) 4 days a week, for three months. THAT was painful.

Enjoy it, and trust me, it'll be an experience.

Yeah, another thing that might be of difficulty is GETTING to all of those places!
I'm doing it, but i might tell him that i'm out for band camp, he's pretty flexible, but I don't really want to go to camp....at all.
But i'd have to start practicing.....which is a pain.
I mean it's not like I have the income of the first chair girl who can afford a trumpet for home AND school.
But I will be more accessible to the world once I get my license.

Anyways, my phone no longer seems to get service at my house, which is weird because I could always walk around and find one spot with a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of signal, enough to send a text anyway.
Now nothing, but the weather has only improved!

That's what I get for having Virgin which uses useless SPRINT!
Useless in this area....useless I tell you!
But at least I get a good deal.

I'm getting in shape now...in case you're wondering where i've gone since i'm not obsessively online. I couldn't do 25 sit ups without stopping.....now I can do 50.
YAY FOR TAN-TAN.
lol.

We also traded our 1990 Fleetwood for a '97 Chrysler Sebring convertible, it's wrecked, but we have a '96 Sebring which was my grandmas which needs a new transmission so we're using it for parts.
Don't know what my dad's going to do with it when he gets it running, but our financial situation is pretty desperate from what I understand so i'm sure it's going to be sold. It's tough for all of us to sell that car, but i guess it's harder for me than everyone else. It still smells just like her, which is crazy because of all those cigarettes she smoked. I look at it and I feel warm inside, it just reminds me of her. It was something that she loved and she died so unexpectedly we never really got anything to remember her by, it all just happened so fast, there was so much pressure to sell her house. I would hate to see that car go, but with a house in foreclosure and a horrible economy here in Michigan...not to mention possible layoffs where my Dad works.

I just wish for times to get better in the state shaped of a mitten.
Well, I should say nationwide.

It's a real epidemic!

Anyway it's 73 degrees and we got NEW PATIO FURNITURE! For FREE! YES!
I'm going to do some OUTDOOR READING!
HECK YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I'm so happy, but I have no idea why!
Oh well, you know what they say: THe best happiness is unexplained, and the most joyful laughter is for no reason!
Actually, i don't know who says that, considering I just made it up.....have a good day!

Huzzah! Everyone loves drive failures.

I was working away in my 40 GB of Final Cut content, and I felt my energy drip. I needed wonderjuice™ (coffee). I put my mac to sleep, and my drive kind of quit unexpectedly. When I came back up, a burning electronic smell came from the drive. FCP crashed. Not being a pyrotechnical person, I promptly unplugged my very hot, out of warranty, defaced serial number drive. For some reason, Western Digital is recognizing the drive as a 300GB internal drive registered in the USA, while this is an external 250GB drive registered in Canada. This makes me question the quality of the serialization of Western Digital products. I've only had 3 western digital products. 2 have died. One is just barely working.

I'm really quite cheesed off.
