So, in health class we are doing this "Wellness wheel" thing, and it's about balancing out the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional part of your life, but i'm not really into it. It's being POUNDED into our heads that we NEED to balance our life like this wheel before we graduate. But, says who?
I mean, who says we have to be balanced? Is there really even such a thing as balance?
Who made this wheel, and who are they who we should all listen to and be balanced?
Just because you're balanced doesn't mean you are "well", I mean, i'm not balanced, and I love myself.
I'm not balanced and i'm fine.
Who says we have to be balanced?!
Some fancy psychologist who went to harvard or something?
I'm sure even they aren't balanced, because if you go to harvard, AND you're balanced, you need to be in the smithsonian.

Excuse my ignorance, but i'm just thinking out loud.
It just doesn't add up, shouldn't we be allowed to be as balanced or unbalanced as we want?
We have to write plans on how we are going to become perfectly balanced and junk.

I'm not balanced, and i'm PERFECTLY NORMAL. BLEH BLEH BLEH BLEH BLEH JKLAJTJEKLAEJSKLTJLJGKLDFJATOPRU38563U46345LDSJGADKLS;J;LTRFGKLSAJGRHJARLKT;JWTYRWGOAP[YIJRY.

Ugh... some of the crap the schools try to shove down our throats is awful.

Are you statically balanced or dynamically balanced? If you aren't balanced, is the school aware that tire-balance weights are of lead, so if you drape them over a shoulder your IQ will fall at least 20 points?

What if you lose a weight when rounding a corner at a sprint? It's all in fun until you put someone's eye out with it. Then you'll be sorry!

Insurance called me today. Its a total loss. But I only paid 6k for it, I'm getting a check for $8k. It will completely cover the loan, and put an extra 2k in my pocket.

Nifty kewl, Stretch-0 ! A very good outcome for that accident of yours. :D

I'm watching "Moment of Truth" on fox.

That show asks really BRUTAL questions and they have to tell the truth.

That show RUINS lives.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

If you watch it, you might understand. I mean, it's not like they don't KNOW what they sign up for.

Anyone else seen that before?

I was just thinking, and I know this is WAY far down the road for me,
but if I was blessed with a little girl in my life,
I would name her Aurora.
I JUST LOVE THAT NAME.

That is a pretty cool name... I love the name "Jade" for a girl, only it doesn't really work with my last name, "Jarrett". Unless we called her JJ or something. Maybe if I give her 2 middle names, people won't notice >_>

My long-term girlfriend, someday-fiancé-then-wife's last name is Green, so maybe I could take her name, then it'd be "Jade Green"... =P

And if it's a boy, you could name him Tom.

I hate windows. I hate windows. I hate windows.

I just wasted 60 minutes configuring a firewall and wireless adapter on my IBM ThinkPad running XP Pro. (Pro. Ha!) The Pad is actually a very nice machine, despite being nearly six years old. When I came to Mac last year, I wanted to actually spend my time USING my computer, not CONFIGURING it. Fine as the Pad is, now it's being used by my wife.

Unfortunately, my wife, my COMPUTER PROGRAMMER wife, didn't know how to make it work. I was planning on doing some things of my own tonight, but instead I spent the last hour futzing with the darned thing, trying to make it work.

My wife and I don't normally yell, but we did tonight. Did I tell you I hate windows? I do. We woke our daughter. I almost never have occasion to get angry at my MacBook, or iPhone, or iPods. ^_^ I often swear at PCs running windows, both at home and at work. Our daughter didn't hear me swear at the Pad, but she did hear us yelling. (We both apologized to her.)

One hour and countless reboots later, the Pad again works. I had things to do tonight. I bought a Mac to be able to use my computer, but still spent tonight configuring a windows machine for my wife. When I was done, I opened MS Internet Explorer to the Mac page on the Apple website.

I feel your pain. I'm configuring my old gaming rig I built for a friend who can't afford a computer.

It is such a friggin pain.

I spend 14 years working on Windows machines without a single complaint, and then once I got my Power Mac, I noticed every little minor fault that Windows gave me.

Now I'm in the middle of DLL disaster. I should really just install 2000 on here and be done with it, but she insisted on XP, so, fine. XP it is.

Darn my whole "Hey Derek, let's get rid of everything we don't use" mindset.

I mean, giving away my old Les Paul was one thing, because I restring it and drop it off at my buddy's house, but this, dear lord. I've never had an install fail three times.

On second thought, I'll just put 2000 on it. We'll worry about XP later. Like, never. Gah.

Well, the hard drives have both failed, albeit after 7 and 8 years of service, respectively. I've got another PC at home that I know works that I've been running as a cheap little home media server, and the folks got a new PC for themselves, so, I'll give her that one and part out the other one I have. (See the Buy/Sell/Trade section ;))

At the moment, I've only got 2 JVC pro VHS editing decks (non-rackmount) left, and that really strips me down to the posters on my walls, my CDs & DVDs, my Xbox, my Strat, P-Bass, and Drums, my TV, and my Macbook, which are all things I wasn't planning on parting with any time soon.

I seem to be happier the less I own, well, to a limit, but for the most part I don't like having a lot of things to clutter up my life. Just want to keep things consolidated as much as possible.

The less I own, the less I have to lose.

(And the Les Paul was for my friend who can't afford a guitar. Normally I wouldn't be giving away an instrument, but the poor kid loves playing guitar and couldn't afford one, so I figured he'd get more use out of it than I did.)

Derek, bad as me - gave away a 1972 Gibson Dove 12 string - it was a great axe. Wish I had it back sometimes. But, at the time I was into keyboards and had this great axe just sittin' in a corner. It deserved to be played. It wanted to be played. Had a young friend that was using a piece of ... at the time. No money, parents had no money for an axe worthy of her talent. She was over one night jammin with us. Put a smile on my face just hearing the sound from that axe. I was sad everytime I glanced over and saw it it sittin all by it's lonesome in that corner. Told her to take it home. Made me feel better knowing it had a good home though, and someone to play it everyday. Sometimes ya just gotta do the right thing.

MO, feel your pain. Friends are starting to find out I know a little bit about how to do that kind of stuff. Had a windows machine in the house about a month ago to fix. Have 2 more that are out in my truck right now. They've been in the back seat of the truck for 2 weeks. Just haven't been able to bring myself to haul 'em into the house. Guess I'll have to this weekend. :Grimmace: No kids around anymore, so I can shout at 'em if I want. :) Think I'm gettin' to know too many folks around here. May have to move again.

I hear ya Derek. Sometimes I feel too cluttered and put up free ads on Craigslist to get rid of stuff I no longer use. People appreciate the free stuff and my place feels more relaxed when I'm done.
I just gave away my old desk chair this morning.
