Here it's supposed to be in the mid 60s. It's sunny and cool.

It's 44 in Michigan.

I'm burning up right now.

Yesterday it was around 39 or 40, and I had my windows down on the freeway with a t-shirt on.

Some guy even had the top down on his convertible.

My Eyes!

:D

All Caps does that to me sometimes!

Good gravy, dude.... must you shout?

It BURNS!!

Wow, I had to look to see if this was the shoutbox.

Sorry, sometimes I slip over the razors edge of INSANITY!
O:)

Anyway, today was a BAD day to be driving in rural Michigan....and a worse day to be WALKING to and from the bus. I fell 11 times today. It's pure ice, the bus driver was getting irritated because there is this really narrow dirt road, and we were on top of a steep hill, and he didn't want to go down because it was all ice, then at the bottom of that hill was another hill, all ice, then 2 more, all ice. So while he called base we just sat there....then base said they wouldn't help him, and he was getting angry at them over the radio, and we just went, really slowly, then he gunned it to get to the top of the hill, barley making it before sideswiping a tree. The bus driver said that he didn't think the elementary runs should be picked up on this road, and he was RIGHT, but apparently nobody else thought so, because this afternoon we had a different bus and a different bus driver.
I really hope she's not our new driver, because I liked my bus driver, I mean I never said anything to him, but I just felt bad because everyone always complains about how he drives, it's the middle school kids who think they know everything, when 1) They don't even drive, so how would they know what driving is like? 2) They sit in the back, obviously the bumps are a bit more intense there, and 3) There is this thing called WINTER, it tends to be bad for driving, and 4) We have the OLDEST bus on the road, it's not going to be a nice fluffy quiet riding on air bus trip.

They complain a LOT, and they have no reason to. He's just doing his job, and if some brat middle school kids had the nerve to scream at me about my driving, I would be hitting a LOT more bumps...intentionally.
He turns on the heater in September because one of them decides not to wear a sweatshirt, he pulls up close to the school so they don't have to walk in the mud, he tells them to watch their step if it's slippery, he says good morning and good afternoon, he even gives candy out on holidays (Although they aren't allowed to give out candy anymore, so he gives us really nice pens, which some kids don't appreciate and just think that's weird, but I think it's cool, i'd rather have a pen than candy personally). They need to quit their complaining. It's Michigan, the weather isn't great and the roads aren't perfect, they have no reason to complain, riding the bus is a PRIVILEGE, not a right.
My mother is a bus driver, and she loves her kids, but if any one of them ever talked to HER the way the kids on my bus talk about my bus driver, she would (and she has before) kicked their bratty little behind off, because they can do that.

Sorry about the really long post, but that's been on my mind for a long time, some people don't get the thanks they deserve.I just have a huge headache from hearing that little chipmunk voiced brat who sits in the very back seat let out a deafening high pitched squealing SCREAM after the bus went over a (slight) bump, the bump that covers the entire road, the same bump that's always there, every day, in the same place, at the same time....you would think one would brace themselves for something if they know it's coming, or the 5 feet, 90 pound tiny girl can just not sit in the very back. You would think there would be no reason to let out such a horrifying fingers down a blackboard scream like that, honestly the whole bus winced.
Just maybe, MAYBE, one more bump like that could put an ending to her screaming. ;D

My rant for today.

Hope all have had a great Monday, if there is such a thing!

Tanner, I LOVE your posts! You just vent so easily, I wish I could get things off my mind even remotely as easily as you seem to find it!

That said... This is the first time i've ever been so nervous about an interview. Usually im quite relaxed and confident but this, I dont feel completely relaxed about. I want the job so bad, more so then any other job and so I guess im naturally just heaping more pressure on myself :(

For some reason, I see myself dropping out of college and never returning.

I feel like I'm stuck in an endless loop of unnecessary things that will never be of any real value to me, just like high school.

No matter how hard I try, I just can't get into any of this, and it's making me nuts.

I'm starting to think that I just need to get a better job and become the lower-middle class lump I was born to be.

I'm a quitter, and I admit it. I just wish I didn't have to quit.

Please, consider this very carefully. There will never be another time in your life that you will be in a better position, both economically and time-wise to finish your degree. This is one of those decisions that will put you down a certain path that it's very difficult to steer away from later in life.

And make no mistake, regardless of your major, having a bachelor's degree will dramatically impact your ability to grow and earn in your career. There are certain crests that are insurmountable without a degree.

Take it from someone who knows.... I am 40 credits shy of a bachelor's. I quit school during the dot com bubble, thinking I would never need a degree. Now, I can't move beyond a "senior level" peon role, regardless of how good of a job I do. My wife, who did bother to graduate, has limitless room for growth. Despite the fact that her degree is in political science, she has consistently made $10-20K more per year than I have, regardless of her level within the company.

I'm just scared about flunking out. Because if I lose college, I lose everything anyway. I worked my behind off in high school to get where I am, but now, even that hustle isn't doing it anymore. I've already quit one of my jobs to try and balance this out, but even that didn't help.

Failing college means going back home. Going back home is not an option.

Failing out means moving in with my stoner friends while I try and sort it out, which is almost as bad as home.

I suppose this is all coming from the perspective of "I'd rather leave and say it's what I wanted than get kicked out trying to stay in."

Well, whatever you choice you make, I urge you to think it through.

I'm not trying to lecture you, just thought I'd share one of the mistakes I've made that I later lived to regret. It will likely be many years from now before I'll be in a position again to finish my degree.

Oh trust me, I didn't take that as a lecture at all. That actually helped me make some reasonable sense out of the situation. I've scheduled a meeting with my academic advisor, and hopefully that will help me out.

Well.....I've been away for a while, but I'm back just in time to add my 2 cents in.

I've been in your same position before. I saw High School and most of College as just one of those hoops you have to jump through in life. I never understood the need for "electives" in College.......why study anything outside of your major? I also agree, when your heart is not in it, and thing don't interest you, you won't do well at all. I got lucky, and maybe you can do the same. I ended up getting a job on campus that helped me cover some of my bills, and took out a couple student loans to cover tuition and everything else. After a yeard and a half as a Student Assistant, I got a Staff position with the University. From then on, I made enough money to pay all of my bills, and got to go to school for free! It might take me 10 years to graduate, but I can take as many, or as few classes a semester as I like. When I feel stressed, I'll only take 1 class, other times I'll take 2 or 3. I know it seems almost never ending, and almost not worth it, but it's always possible. I was a B/C student in high school, and since I got into my major in college, I have a 4.0

The moral of the story is.........Do what you love. If you don't want to give up College, DON'T!!! Make things work, and I assure you, yourself and your family will be glad you did.

Good morning! I just resurrected some old experimental code I wrote in '06. It was never meant for use by anyone but me, but now someone at work wants it. It was so experimental that I never even commented it. "Code" is a misnomer; it's a bunch of little programs and procedural steps to manipulate data. This was written in a sort of coding rush. Reconstructing it was interesting.

But I blather. I'm just coming off of this current coding rush to reconstruct and adapt the aforementioned s/w and procedure to what I have available today, and to hand it off to the person who wanted it. It's running in a final test mode now. It's funny, needing to spin down now. It's not even 8AM here.

Hope everyone has a fine day!

Hey, TS, how did the interview go?

Good morning all! This will be my last post for a while, I will be going away for a few weeks with the Army. I probably won't have internet access so let M-F withdrawals begin.

Good luck Babarnette!

I had to change the fuel pump on my truck weds night. Went to pick up my bike, and was stuck doing 15mph on the way back. Giving it any gas would cause it to stall. Worked great afterwards, but had trouble starting this morning, not exactly sure why.
