Tonight I took my daughter to the Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance. First we went out to dinner. It was a restaurant called Legal Seafood, a Boston based restaurant that has excellent food. After dinner we ambled about the mall for a few minutes, burning off a few spare minutes. Then we went to the dance.

It was held in a local community center where it's been held at least two years prior. It's always a good time. The theme this year was "Pretty In Pink", and the place was decorated accordingly. The main hall had a DJ who kept things moving. There were door prizes and a contest. There's a refreshment room with snacks - fresh veggies, cookies, water, and lemonade. The refreshment room is also where they take a Polaroid picture of each Girl Scout and her father (or other person bringing her to the dance). The attached photo is an iPhone picture of the Polaroid.

It was a good time tonight, and we had fun.

Good morning all! This will be my last post for a while, I will be going away for a few weeks with the Army. I probably won't have internet access so let M-F withdrawals begin.

Stay safe, and good luck, Babarnette. Thank you for your service.

Good goin' mathogre.

We have a new addition to the household.

Co-workers brought it in from the drive in front of the office Monday morning.
Had a thunderstorm going on at the time. He was wet, cold, shivering, ribs showing (very skinny) and bleeding. At first we thought it'd been hit by a car, but no damage and exhibited no tender spots anywhere. Ended up just being a scraped nose. Thinking now someone tossed him out the window of their car.

Brought him home that night. He was burning up with fever until Thursday. He was eating good though. Knew to find and use a litter box (thankfully). Slept with us and the dog on the bed from the first night.

Just yesterday, he finally started exhibiting some normal kitty tendencies to play and move around to check the house out. Looks like he's going to be OK. Think he's about 4-5 months old. And looks like he's going to be huge. 2" of his tail drags along the floor right now.

Haven't named him yet either. Was thinking about Driveway, but our dog is named Broadway (picked up during a thunderstorm on Broadway in S.A.). Wife says we should call him Lucky. Mainly due to the fact I've said no to every animal she wanted to get for the last several years.

Anyway, here's a couple of pics taken with the phone.

Welcome to the new family member, Bob. He looks like our Indy, who we lost a few years ago. Nissa, our current "owner," has similar markings but is a few shades darker.

Thank you MHC and Bob!

Great little kitten Bob! Lucky is a fine name, though you could call him "Off" for Off Broadway. O:)

where in NY? i spent the first 22 years of my life in new jersey, about 15-20 miles due west of manhattan, and my experience was very different from stretch's. four distinct seasons, without a doubt colder in the winter than Georgia, but not frigid (at least by minnesota standards ;) ). the summers were hot, some rain, the autumns lasted more than a week or so and were beautiful and often rainy, the springs were a mixed bag, but certainly not too hot or cold.

i do, however, agree that you will probably be happier following the job rather than the location. unless of course you really want to experience different places and cultures and such. either way, breaking a verbal agreement with a simple, "i'm sorry, due to unforseen circumstances, i just will not be able to accept the position" should suffice.

I just want to say thanks for the replies from stretch and eric, and I think I have made my decision. I think with my goals for my career, general excitement for change, happiness with both jobs, and several long talks with my parents and friends I think I am going to go with my first choice in the NY job. I am pretty set on this job as I have been for a while, even though the ATL job was very tempting.

It just seems right for me to go to NY and jump start my career in a new place where my ideas and goals can grow so easily. I am also very interested in extending my social and work related contacts which can happen much more easily with the NY job.

I got some really great advice from my dad: If I really want to get into what I got a job in ATL for, the same passion and skills that got me in this time can get me far enough to get my foot in the door once again.

So I very happy with my decision. Thanks for MF input. You guys helped a lot too.

just wrecked my truck. Slid off the road and into a ditch. Popped out of the ditch and slid sideways through a field. Broke something in the right front wheel, in now sits at a angle and the bumper is all bent in.

I'm ok, just hit my head on the roof. Gonna call the insurance co tomorrow and see what I need to do.
