Hi cwa and thanks!
The Migration Assistant is truly a great tool. I'll say this on refurbs though. My first MacBook was a refurb, and I have the new machine because of issues with the first one. Months ago in a thread far, far away I said I'd go with a refurb again. I wouldn't rush to one one now. (Otoh, my 2nd gen iPod nano is a refurb, and it's been fine.)
Well, my current MBP is a refurb. I bought it the day after Christmas for $1270 out-the-door from Apple. It was like new, except for the packaging it came in and has been virtually flawless aside from a battery that had very limited capacity (replaced under warranty). It also arrived with 1GB of RAM, when it was supposed to have 512MB. So, needless to say, I was pretty happy with them. I have never seen such a great deal since. The machine was actually manufactured in September of 2006, so it was only a few months old.
I like the machine very much, but I am longing for one of the LED backlit models with the C2D chip. I'd also really like to have a glossy screen. If they have any refurbs out there that meet that criteria, I'll be all over it. And hey, I'll even get another $25 iTunes card if I finance and immediately pay it off like I did last time.
On snow, heah we're getting some now. I'm workng from home this afternoon because of the accidents in the area from the poor driving skills of some of the people on the road. Stay safe!
Our corporate office is in Bethesda, which I don't believe is very far from you. I heard that major routes around DC are a total disaster. My boss actually works out of that office and I believe she's on a work at home day.
Wish I was allowed to do that....
