Maybe you mentioned it before, but I forgot - did you go with the white or the black?
I went with the white. Couldn't justify the black as I'm going to switch hard drives anyway.
Mathogore,

Awesome, I am excited for you.

Tell us how it is! I know you'll love it.

With a little luck I'll be transfered to it tonight. Will see how well the optimism matches reality.
Congrats MO.

I'm back to work. Its snowing like crazy here. Can't wait until the end of the week.
Thanks Stretch! Enjoy the snow and the week.

The way it works is I sign up for a data plan for my current moto Q, cancel voice and move over to any other carrier.

Processor AND non-flickering screen. Am on the Windows machine for the moment while updating s/w in the new machine. I did a firewire transfer from the old MacBook to the new one, and it took about 2 hours. I'm impressed at how easy it's been, especially given that I was actually dreading the migration. Well, it isn't over yet, but it should be shortly.

UPDATE

Also, the function keys are rearranged slightly. Ugh.

Here's my first post from the new machine. This was the fastest and most trouble free computer migration I've ever done. In less than 3 hours, I transferred all of my files and settings to the new machine, and performed RAM surgery to move the 2G to the new machine. Simply amazing.

That is awesome. I was impressed by how effortless the Migration Assistant is when I did a clean install of Leopard and imported my data/home folder/applications. The only thing that didn't come over was MS Office (go figure!).

Anyway, congrats on the new machine! I've been wanting a C2D machine for some time now. If Apple runs some specials on the refurbs like they did last year after Christmas, I may just do that and sell my CD.

In other news, it looks like we're going to get our first "real" snow of the season today. It's been snowing since about 9am here, and it's really coming down. I love the snow, but people are always idiots driving during the first snow of the season. I'm not looking forward to driving home tonight.

My cable finally comes today. I've been watching tons of bluray movies because I've been waiting. Can't wait for HD sports and discovery HD hehe.

Hi cwa and thanks!

The Migration Assistant is truly a great tool. I'll say this on refurbs though. My first MacBook was a refurb, and I have the new machine because of issues with the first one. Months ago in a thread far, far away I said I'd go with a refurb again. I wouldn't rush to one one now. (Otoh, my 2nd gen iPod nano is a refurb, and it's been fine.)

On snow, heah we're getting some now. I'm workng from home this afternoon because of the accidents in the area from the poor driving skills of some of the people on the road. Stay safe!

Thanks mac57!!!

jotdess, congrats! Let us know how it goes. ^_^

I have to drive to see the snow lol. Nice though. ;)

Hmm, so the HD sports package channels look amazing, but the games that are on it, aren't the best. I'll give it a few weeks to see if it's worth keeping. Everything else is nice though.

How's everyone? I'm so busy w/ work. I wish it were Friday already. :D

Jotdess what's your cable company? I'm with Time Warner, and their HDTV section sucks. They have like 6 HD channels, and 3 are EPSN.

LOL mine's Time Warner too. I think most cable companies barely have any HD channels though right?

Well I'm officially done with homework for the semester. All I have left are finals exams next week and then I get 3 weeks of Christmas vacation! w00t!

Congrats on the new macbook, MO

Speaking of snow, it's snowing here right now. I get to go out and play in it here in a little bit. By "play" I mean run some errands with the roomate.

Oh and more good news, I figured out how to hook up my Logitech Z-5500 speakers to my game systems, so when I come back from christmas break...I'll be rocking out to guitar hero on the nice 10" subwoofer. :)

Months ago in a thread far, far away I said I'd go with a refurb again. I wouldn't rush to one one now. (Otoh, my 2nd gen iPod nano is a refurb, and it's been fine.)

Well, my current MBP is a refurb. I bought it the day after Christmas for $1270 out-the-door from Apple. It was like new, except for the packaging it came in and has been virtually flawless aside from a battery that had very limited capacity (replaced under warranty). It also arrived with 1GB of RAM, when it was supposed to have 512MB. So, needless to say, I was pretty happy with them. I have never seen such a great deal since. The machine was actually manufactured in September of 2006, so it was only a few months old.

I like the machine very much, but I am longing for one of the LED backlit models with the C2D chip. I'd also really like to have a glossy screen. If they have any refurbs out there that meet that criteria, I'll be all over it. And hey, I'll even get another $25 iTunes card if I finance and immediately pay it off like I did last time.

On snow, heah we're getting some now. I'm workng from home this afternoon because of the accidents in the area from the poor driving skills of some of the people on the road. Stay safe!

Our corporate office is in Bethesda, which I don't believe is very far from you. I heard that major routes around DC are a total disaster. My boss actually works out of that office and I believe she's on a work at home day.

Wish I was allowed to do that....

Man I can't wait for the first snowstorm here, I just hope it's not when I'm in Texas this Christmas, I won't like it if I miss the first heavy snowfall.

Good luck on the tests Todd! And thank you!

I'm glad you've had good luck with your refurb!

Bethesda is close, 15 miles or so. The roads on the Maryland side of the Beltway were probably worse than the Virginia side, but it was still pretty bad all around the area.

Part of why I'm so demanding of computers and intolerant of problems with them is that I depend on them so much for work. Yeah my MacBook is my personal machine, and I have a computer at work, but this one allows me to work at home easily when the weather is bad. ^_^
