it's funny how our relationships with our animals can be as varied and complex as those with other humans.
my wife just does not understand the relationship i have with one of our cats. she (the cat) is widely disliked by almost every other person who comes into contact with her. she and i seem to have an understanding, and i think she's one of the best cats i've ever lived with, despite some occasional incongruent vocalizations (she growls and hisses a lot even when she's in a relatively good mood - she just really likes to get her way).
