In all fairness....
My issue with iMazing is the iOS update feature, that failed couple of times before, but had been able to restore the backed up image, created prior to the update. This time, it had not been able to restore the image. It's partially my fault using the update feature, I should have seen it coming to this point.
In retrospect, restoring my iPhone wasn't that hard, thanks to ferrar's help. The main issue had been, that I had not done this level of restore and had been apprehensive about doing the steps necessary for a functioning iPhone. It'll be a breeze next time...
Other features, like backing up and restoring from backup still working just fine. Will these feature continue to work without issues? Time will tell, but certainly iMazing is not the only solution for backing up my iPhone.
iMazing support keeps blaming hardware as source of the issue, quote:
iOS reports the specific error code via Apple drivers. The exact error code iOS reported was "14" which indicates an error with USB connection, as indicated by Apple support page.
I have forwarded the case to our developers, so you can be sure that there's nothing wrong going on on our side.
As it is the weekend, they will get back in touch on Monday.
Kind regards,
My view of the same in the response below, quote:
iMazing has no issues with backing up and restoring from backup, with the same Windows 10 OS, USB port and original Apple USB cable. Nor does iTunes have any issues with the same hardware.
The error 14 might be an all-in-one type of solution to all software-related problems as well. At the point of operation failed, iMazing had full control of the iPhone and iOS had been inactive. It’s questionable how would iOS report the error at this point.
We just disagree on the root cause of the issue and either way, thank you for forwarding this issue to the developers.
Regards,
iMazing on the Windows platform, may also have issues related to the Apple's iTunes driver. Apple no longer develops iTunes drivers for windows 10 platform, Microsoft does that for couple of years by now. As the matter of fact, even iTunes in itself installed from the Windows Store. iMazing reinstalling the old, no longer developed Apple driver could be the source of this issue as well. Especially knowing how frequently Windows 10 and the associated drivers are update; the current schedule is twice a year.
