OK, your Mac is a Mid 2011 27" iMac. What we're going to need is the complete kernel panic report. Copy it from your log and paste here so we can view it. I can't tell from the photo you included exactly what's going on with the kernel panic. Most kernel panics, however, are cause by a hardware fault although they can also be generated from bad software.

Can you try to start your iMac in safe mode? Reboot and hold down the shift key until you see the spinning circle or Apple. Let it run in safe mode for a bit to see if it goes into panic.

Well no luck there, it wont boot up. I press and hold shift right at the sound until I see that apple, the bar fills up about halfway then it restarts or now it is just on a gray screen but it has been 5 minutes.

So I can't even get into the machine.

Any ideas?

Try this: Reboot and hold down your Command + R keys. Let's see if you can get into recovery. If you can bring up the recovery partition, run utilities, Disk Utility, and see if you can verify the Macintosh HD.

If you can't get into recovery, dig out your original Snow Leopard DVD that came with the iMac and use it to boot the machine. You can run Utilities, Disk Utility from the top menu and do the same... verify the hard drive.

That statement above about the CPU is what has me puzzled. I'm going to guess here and say that you have a logic board problem/error. What's causing it, I have no idea. If there's an Apple store nearby, I suggest taking it on in and have them run diagnostics. An Apple store will do the diagnostics for free, an authorized Apple dealer will charge you for the diagnostics.

Awesome! thanks for the reply and at least on trying to figure out what issue I have.
There is a Apple store very close, I will do as you suggest and take it in.

Thanks again CHSCAG

Texas, where else?

Likely not the ops issue in this case, but just as an FYI:

Kernel panic I received this morning when trying to boot from the 10.6 DVD on my '11 MBA is basically an identical copy of the earlier screen shot here.

Sorry to interject here; there was a discussion in an earlier thread that I was involved in with 2 issues: There was a graphic card problem and recall with that year's Mac, and having the card replaced solved that problem. I then also started getting kernal errors and reboots. We took log pictures and narrowed it down to Norton Antivirus program. After deleting that completely, the problem has totally resolved. How to remove if you can boot up: In the Applications/Norton Solutions folder there is an application called "Symantec Uninstaller". Running that should remove all components.

Guys after a suggestion to take the IMac in to the Apple Store, they did a free diagnostic and found out it was the Graphics Card. The good news for me in this case, this particular card had a recall(crazy) and they replaced it for free($389.00).

Because of a hardware failure the kernel Panic appeared.

Again this was in my case and I am not saying it will be in others. But Apple did check my machine out for free. Apple Geniuses were awesome!

Thanks for posting back the good news. Our suspicion about a logic board problem was right on target - regards the graphic card. Anytime you can get a professional repair for free is a real bonus. :)

Yeah...And so I thought I had mentioned, thanks to all who replied with ideas and suspicions as to what it could have been. Thanks

I'm happy your problem was resolved. I had the same experience with the 2011 graphics card which was also replaced free of charge. My Kernal Fault problem surfaced AFTER that and resolved after I removed Norton.
