Have IMAC 27 Questions

@pigoo3 Do I have to use Apple RAM? When I look at the System Information module it tells me the RAM is DDR3. Can I use any DDR3 RAM or do I have to use only Apple RAM?

I would say the sound on the 21.5" iMac's wasn't/isn't as good as on 27" iMac's. Plus this is a 13 year old 2009 iMac. Maybe back in 2009 maybe the speakers/sound weren't as good as newer iMac's.

Plus...maybe the "junk" speakers are newer than 2009. Maybe newer junk speakers are better than older 2009 iMac speakers.

End of the day...sound quality of speakers can be subjective. If the junk speakers sound better...cool!

Nope...definitely don't need to use Apple RAM. As far as I know...us average users can't purchase "Apple RAM" anyway. You simply purchase 3rd-party RAM that has the same spec's as the RAM Apple used in that iMac.

Great place to get RAM is OWC (www.macsales.com). But can probably find it less expensive in eBay.

I have always been impressed with the sound quality on Mac desktops. I had a Power Mac G4 for which I bought a Harman Kardon Sub Woofer and matching bookshelf (Soundstick) speakers.
The sound was fantastic and rivalled my stereo system in the lounge/family room.
Maybe someone remembers these?

No idea! It would be nice to hear other users' opinions about the iMac sound though....
