I did the same thing for my girlfriend for christmas 07. I bought her a new iPod and sent it to colorware and had it colored, and then I put this song on it.

Kid Theodore : I'm a moth http://www.kidtheodore.com/ Song number 4 on the website. Give it a listen ;)

She pretty much melted, for real, the look on her face was priceless.

That song is really good. Im definitely going to download that one. And way to go with the girl, its nice to hear that at least some people treat them the way they should be.

I like Unwinding Cable Car - Anberlin Certainly a good one

And this is one I'm kinda into now More Than a Memory

Ah ha! So thats how your rep is so high ;D

by naming semi-obscure songs by huge rock bands [aerosmith] that get covered by the offspring bands [the breeders] of huge pop-punk bands [the pixies]? ;) :D

I wouldn't necessarily call it a love song but I make a nice mix disc for my gf for Valentine's Day one year and put "Idiot Boyfriend" by Jimmy Fallon as the first track. She loved it.
I am not one for slow love songs but I like
"Colour my World" -Chicago
"Since I've Been Loving You" - Zeppelin (Props to whoever said it first)
"All Mine" -Portishead

Well Pretty much anything by Sade.

Also Norah Jones, you can't go wrong with those 2 ladies there.

Hey MMM!!!!!! Long time no see. Great to see you! Hope you're well.

Okay, back on topic. I do have some love songs that aren't either rude (NIN- Closer (there's a good one, huh?)) or about love lost.

Van Halen: Dance The Night Away
Blue Swede: Hooked on a Feeling
The Hollies: Bus Stop
Olivia Newton-John: Magic

Eric Clapton: Change The World
Frank Sinatra: New York, New York
Belinda Carlisle: I Get Weak
Toni Braxton: You Mean The World To Me

Al Jarreau: Moonlighting
Heart: Tell It Like It Is
Barry Manilow: Can't Smile Without You
T. Rex: Bang a Gong (Get it On)

Jefferson Starship: Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
Andy Gibb: I Just Want to Be Your Everything
Garbage: #1 Crush
Bangles: Walk Like an Egyptian

Btw, I know NY, NY isn't a love song per se. Same with Walk Like an Egyptian. Include them anyway.

Hope this helps! (Hmmm... now this is an iPod playlist for me. ^_^)

Some awesome songs listed so far and one or two I ain't heard for a few years - quite a handy thread, I've been "romancin' a lassie for a wee while now and massive thanks to the OP as I checked out that "Out of My League" song and I notice its featured in the film "The Notebook" which is favourite film... I've not had the chance to sit and watch it with her yet but she'll be impressed I have this little knowledge of the song now...

Anyways, I took her to a concert by one of my favourite artists last week so I'll list some of his tracks which I love:

David Gray - This Year's Love, You're The One I love, Please Forgive Me - and finally, I have no idea what the song is about but it makes the hairs on my neck stand on end everytime, Alibi but I'm not sure if its a love song or not, check it out and let me know what you think!

Gotta bump this tune up as well here, just checked it out and it's awesome, nice work.

Another one that I like is by Natasha Bedingfield and is called "Soulmate".
