Don't think it will be a ribbon problem as there is no need to do anything, except remove one screw and slide the flash drive out of the socket, and the new one in. See Patrick's kind link to both size mid 2012 MBA's. If you have the tools, torx driver, a 120GB drive will run you about $91.00 p;us postage. For $150 would suggest a larger hard driver. 120GB is pretty basic.

+1. Agreed.

I couldn't understand why Apple seems to have used a proprietary connectors and limit ones purchasing choices, and prices, then I found this article:
https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1289615

Then I also wondered if anyone has made any PCI-Express adapters that would fit those Apple models and found this, and:
Apple SSD Adapter
http://www.microsatacables.com/drive-adapters-and-drive-converters/apple-ssd-adapter

If those work and I can't see why they wouldn't, that option should open up a lot of optional choices for those particular Apple Mac users I would think.

And no, I didn't check out all the details or if there are any disadvantages. But I don't really see why there should be any problems other than maybe saving some money, if that really is one, and having an option to use a different PCI-Express SSD from different makers that also use a more standard connection.
