On MacBook Air M4, Sequoia 15.4, the log in password hint was not showing up after unsuccessful tries to enter a password. Apparently, what ever turns on the hint after 3 tries failed. Apple has an article instructing one to go to System Settings-Users & Groups and click "Change Password" to add the hint. One must enter the old password and a new one.
Oddly, when I do that I get the error that Passwords Do Not Match. Of course they do not match since I'm entering the old password and a new password.
After many tries, I restarted the computer and entered the old password and a brand new one. Again I got the error that the passwords do not match. (They shouldn't, should they?)
I even tried copying and pasting my password in the old and the new boxes. Again- The do not match error.
Do any of you know how I can successfully add a password hint when someone mis-types the password 3 times? (And successfully change password if ever needed.)
I apologize if this is easy. I'm brand new to MacOS.
