That is a pretty long time ago to dig this post up from. I'd definitely dig an update. My fiancee and I just got engaged in December. And oh NO, I just realized I don't remember what day I asked her on. It was for Christmas, but it was before Christmas because she went home for break. I think it must have been the 18th of December haha. Anyway, I too am poor, and I suggest for all others in that boat, check with your family for heirloom rings... my mom had my great great grandmother's engagement ring around, so I took that (has two rubies in the centerpiece, originally surrounded by pearls that I upgraded to diamonds).
