AND... I went back to SN's website today....

Went to SN's website today, and it says "does not work on iMacs". Wonder if I just didn't see that before or it's a new development...

Take that with a grain of salt. It works just fine on my 2013 27" iMac and worked just as well on my 2011 21.5" iMac which I no longer have. ;)

I just wish there was a way to get rid of it. Permanently.

It doesn't work on 2010 iMacs. I'm pretty sure the developer simply either never had access to a newer-than-2010 iMac, or he never updated that notice over time.

Care to share what? Who are you replying to? If you mean the Terminal command, read the entire discussion starting with page 1. I posted it here months ago.

Thank you. Appreciate your direct to-the-point, non-criticizing response.

Found an app that actually works!!

It's called 'Silent Start' and I got it through MacUpdate. It works!!

Thank goodness no more 'BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG'!!

Gad I hated that sound. And just as a sidenote, I was working with my 2008 20" iMac. Nothing worked until I tried this ap. Start Ninja worked for my 2012 27" iMac. But not for this one.
