Whoa, I cannot believe believe that's all it took but THANK YOU!! I had spend a lot of time and efforts trying out different programs but always had some issue or the other.

Anyways guys, so it's capturing the audio is what's not working for me. This is what I am seeing when I use the shift-cmd-f5, can anyone possibly help me troubleshoot this please?
It's shift-cmd-5, not shift-cmd-f5, but recording sound may still be an issue

Hey Rod, when watching an online video say on YouTube or whatever or in a webinar and would like to record it, that is all I am seeking, nothing relating to microphone. So, is there any way I can record a playing online video or webinar with sound please?
To record on-line videos like You Tube, I use Clip Grab.
That works very well. One can select the video format like mp4 and also just record the audio using mp3.

Webinars I run or participate in have a record button

For actual screen recording I have used Quicktime - there is a drop down next to the record button that lets one select the audio source. The default is "no audio", so one has to change that.
Your link is not working on my end.
I get an error 404

Patrick you get two choices, thumbnail or full size when you choose the Attach Files button on this site.

Not on my iMac thanks anyway Rod, whether I click and drag a photo or use the Attached files option on a message to be posted.

No big deal as most images seem to get resized appropriately regardless of method for me.

Thats odd Patrick, when I choose an insertion point and click on Insert in the jpeg I get the two options you can see in my screen shot below.

@mikehende, in answer to your question (sorry the link didn't work) there currently is no way you can record video and sound from the internal speakers on native macOS software.
That is, you can do a video capture of the screen and add sound from the built in mike but not from the video source.
To do that you need a third party app, extension or utility. This is confusing because many web sites have instructions on how to perform a video capture with sound on macOS but it is not explained that this is only possible with the mike not the internal speakers. Hence the popularity of Soundflower originally released in 2004.
Here's that article link again; Someone finally came up with a Soundflower replacement, and it's free for Mac users
I say again, I cannot recommend Black Hole and would be cautious about using it unless you are confident with this type of software. (Backup first)
There have already been some suggested alternatives like GrabClip and there are free video downloader extensions for chromium based browsers like Firefox from the Google Play Store. One I have used is Video DownloadHelper but it is very limited in its functions. There are also specific You Tube download extensions but I've never tried any.

I came across "Black Hole" a couple of days ago and must say the name of that software made me a bit nervous.
Who picks these names ??? - I could just see me downloading that software and then see all my data disappearing into this "black hole".
But this reminds me that we discussed this same issue on this forum quite a while back - screen recording with screen audio.
At the time we also talked about Soundflower etc.,basically any app that looped internal audio back to the mike input - couldn't get anything to work at that time.
Then I thought - why struggle with software to do this?
I have a 2012 Mac Mini with both a headphone and mike port, so why not just connect the headphone output (with the on screen audio) to the mike input with a short audio jumper cable? Tried it, worked perfectly to give me a screen recording with screen audio.
However, MacBooks of all types do not have external mike inputs, so for those I "invested" $10 Cdn and bought an Audio to USB-A adapter which had both a standard headphone jack and a mike jack, an audio jumper cable between them should give the same result as with the 2012 Mini but I'm not sure if I ever verified that.

One other note - When doing a screen recording, the resolution of the video (I think) will just be the resolution of the screen - that's why I prefer using Clip Grab for YouTube videos whenever I can.

Wow, what a great idea(y) A very analogue solution.
I just downloaded ClipGrab, its great. Tried it on a YouTube clip, worked like a charm.
Thanks for the tip.:D

@krs Thanks for that tip about the audio jumper cable. I should have thought of that. I've done it before.

For those of you with Macs that have one of those combined audio input and mic jacks this tip can still work with the right adapter splitter combination. As you are working out the connections for the various adapters keep in mind that these 3.5 mm combined audio input and output jacks need to be what is commonly referred to as 4 pole.

Thanks Rod, but I get nothing even close to what you displayed that you get in either my Google Chrome or Firefox. No option whatsoever provided anywhere or anyhow.
I don't bother using Safari for ages now because it just didn't work properly at so many sites.

Anyway, certainly not a large problem, but I was curious that I didn't see anything like the options you mentioned and posted.

Hey guys, I found a super easy fix for this and just wanted to share:

Well congratulations on your search and find but it seems rather a convoluted method to do what you wanted to do.
At least you got an answer at that site as I have seldom seen any good constructive solutions posted there.

I thought you had got everything sorted out previously by using QuickTime Player.

But if you ever need any alternatives maybe check these out:

Me too, it's so easy to assume we all see the same thing, especially when it's a site function. It is the same for me on Brave, Vivaldi, Firefox and Safari on iOS macOS and Android too. I wonder if you have a universal content blocker of some sort like AdGuard? I know that some tracker and ad blocker software can disable the interaction buttons on eg. Facebook.

Thanks for the suggestion Rod, I tried disabling all my Google Chrome extensions, quit and restarted Chrome, and tried the attachments methods and there is absolutely no change and I do not get any options for what size to include.

I would assume it's because of an old OS and an old unsupported outdated application I'm using. But no big deal.

Yes, you're probably right. I have my browser built in tracker and ad blocker software set as high as practical for my purposes but I forget about the small changes in browsers that occur over time to accomodate web site development.
Guess you'll have to wait till that new M2 SoC device.
