25 sounds good for kids, though I'd set the marriage age at 21. Some people get married early with no negative effect (well, except for the obvious fact that they got married, but that's besides the point ;P)

Thats just a lack of any type of parenting, let alone having a smart-teenager. Weve all seen those "My child is part of *school* honor role". They should have a bumper sticker that says...

To be serious,I reckon that the best way to solve this BIG problem is for the government to say "no benefits and no free housing until you are 21". That would at least half the amount of teen pregnancies overnight, because, truth be told, the vast majority do it to get housing and a scott free life from the hard working tax payers among us.
Whether the same applies in other countries I don't know, but here in the UK, it certainly does.

The girls parents should be punished for not making the decision for her, I am not advocating termination BUT..........

That baby is now going to grow up in an atmosphere which is wrong and you can bet the baby's parents will not stay there!!!!!!!!

Nath, i think you're over generalizing how liberal people view these sorts of incidents, and over simplifying what happens once the deed is done. the children have, and will be punished enough coming from a family like this.

I'm not sure why this surprises anybody.

We as a society have gotten to the point where we accept that kids as young as 12 will be having sex and we even defend their right to so. The justification is "it's their body, they should be able to use it when they are ready". To be frank, this is a crock but by god we are going to teach them how to use it and then act shocked when they do. We are a society driven by youthful sexual images yet we also expect those most impacted by those images to not respond to them although we are not willing to tell them not to.

I also blame parents to a large extent. So many parents are unwilling or unable to believe that their child could possibly be doing something like that. It's easy to do and it's easy for adults to get so wrapped up in their own lives that they don't see what their kids are doing. Yes, that IS the voice of experience speaking. If more parents actually paid attention to what their kids are doing, both in real life AND on-line, they would be shocked by the things they would find. They would find that their kids ARE doing those kinds of things at 12, 13, 14 15. They would then have to examine their own lives to figure out what sort of values they are instilling in their kids and that would be both difficult and painful to do.

But we'll still be shocked when a 13 year old fathers a child.

Personally it isnt just me infact everyone I speak to about this is shocked and 99% agree

People in general are realising that we are letting other prople and groups control our lives even more and I suspect that things will change soon.

When I was a kid I respected life in general alot more than the majority of children do now.

People always say you cant blame the parents which is a load of crock, if the parents had raised their children better maybe things wouldnt be so bad now.

Yes I am a parent I have a son of 11 years old and I can tell you now that if he did something like this I would not be supporting the entire thing and would be pushing for a resolution along long time before birth.

Totally agree with the above am not a prude and understand there are alot of influences out there BUT surely parents can influence children as well

You think the girl at 15 would know better to take advantage of a 12 year old boy. I know the age difference isn't much but the maturity level between a 15 year old and a 12 year old is. It's not his fault anyway it's the parents and the educational system. He's not old enough to realize the gravity of what he was doing or realize the consequences. TO him sex was prob just like going to play football or something. Kids are kids and naturally at 12,13 years old you're not going to think about the long term. What child does at that age?

The girls should be tried as an adult and charged.

Do you know what's worse though?
A 62 year old woman having a baby by artificial insemination.
It's happened, as I'm sure you've read. She could possibly die before the child is in it's teens.
At least with the kids there's a fair chance they'll be around.
