Yes, tragic indeed, Got up to hear that this morning. Very rare these days too. They showed the crash on TV here. It looked like the was a l ack of catch netting at that point of the track, but even so, he went so far over it wouldn't have helped much.

Just got home from Molson Hockey House!!! What a party!

re: Nodar

I just saw some pictures that I never want to see again. Absolute freak happenstance how & where he hit. Death was instant.

RIP

I saw a video of the crash too. It was horrid. Everything seemed to be going well during the run and in a few seconds, everything went south. I wonder what's going to come of this - will the Georgian team withdraw? Will they change the luge schedule?

Sports: Hockey and sports you never get to watch outside of the Olympics (which is most of them).
Countries: Underdog countries and really small delegations. Looking at the medal count from the 2006 games, I would have been cheering for Australia (1 gold, 1 bronze last time around).

Australia and New Zealand are the only 2 Southern Hemisphere countries ever in history to win a winter Olympics medal. So that's something I say :).

If I am correct, we have never won a gold medal at home (after having two Olympics). So, yes, we are fairly determined. :) Third time's the charm?

I should say that more often. "You've got my vote in the every sport...to win silver." ;)

EDIT: I just figured out that the Aussie is a Canadian expat. So, you're welcome?

Well I won't be watching some sports on the olympics now. Why?

Match Fixing is why. It's the sports where there are judges scoring the athletes and the highest judges score wins. And I have heard from a few different sources that the Judges are not giving the highest scores to the best performances on the day. And most of the sources I've heard about it only said "it was talk amongst the olympic officials and that's all".

It's a smart idea not to comment on something like this. Cause then you are seen as attacking the olympic spirit. So I'll just say I'll leave that talk as just talk and hope the rest of the "judged" sports are judged in the spirit of the olympics.

The bobsled track is a sport I like to watch. Only thing that matters is your time.

I was so happy we got one, it's about time Canada has a solid start to the olympics. All I want now is two more gold medals: men's and woman's hockey :)

That's it? Aim higher! The gold in men and women's hockey is a given ;).

No no no. You're acting like your people already own the gold medal. And you just have to play a game to get it. Anything is possible. Your people could very well win it. And they also could not win it too. Be the best on the day and you get it.

For me as long as the people do the best they can. And get to wave their nation's flag infront of the world, and say "hey I am an olympian". Then they have already won. A medal is just a bonus. A rather nice bonus mind you.
