Some nice image going on here lately, and thanks to Hugh for following the Forum rules of 800 x 600, its a lot better on my little screen now, as I'm away on the road :)

@Exodist & @BCRose, we don't need to get into a slinging match here guys. Everyone has their way of doing things, so lets just let people know of them, and let them choose which way they want to go. As seen, nickyr likes to over expose and bring it back, and Exodist likes to under expose and lighten it up . . 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. We aren't here to see who knows more. Lets just enjoy peoples images and leave it at that !!!!

@Joe FYI mate, if you use ⌥ (option) and G key, it will give you the correct © Copyright symbol :)

Im off in the Tall Timbers of Western Australia, so I hope to have some shots to put up on Monday. We have the tallest Tree in WA a Karri 80mtr high . . Now to use my new Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX AF 11-16mm f2.8 II LenS :D

I have been following this Osprey pair for three years. Their nest is very close to a dock and since it is in the middle of DC they don't mind photographers!
Both are just back and starting to rebuild the nest and mate. Hopefully chicks will be around in another 4-6 weeks.

Thanks, and I fully agree. Make sure to bring back some nice pics. Got a friend that goes back to Australia from the Philippines for a few months every year. I eventually will have to make my way down under.

Wow very nice. I love birds. Ordered the Tamron 70-300 just the other day. Hopefully it will arrive before I go to Singapore this august.. LOL.. But I want to be able to capture more wildlife with it.

Nice TM.
How do you process the 178 shots?
What is going on in the R upper corner?

Thanks mate.

Was pointed to StarStax by Joe aka ~ Exodist and have tried that out. Works very good and is quite quick as well. I used jpg and had 1.19GB worth in the 178 images, and once done, it made a image of 19.2MB which is bloody good IMHO.

So thanks Joe for that link, and now I'm going to try and do a time-lapse of them and ill post that up next :)

PS: I think I can play around with StarTrax and get something better out of it, this is just thrown together quickly. Oh and the right hand top, is the corner of the Garage. I couldn't see it in the Test images I did, but because of the condensation (cool night-hot day) I had to have it undercover to not damage the Camera.

As I said its my first try, so I'm hoping for better as time goes on. I could of bought the shots down to 30sec Exposure and every 10 Secs and I would of alleviated the dotting on the outer rings.

Hey very nice Star Trails. A lot better then my first try thats for sure.. There is a lot of features in StarStaX but to be honest. I am not sure what all them actually do. There is a coma fill option or something like that that lets you fill in gaps incase you have to switch out a battery or clean lens. That one I have used.. LOL..

Also I helps to take a series of shots with cap on before and and after all your shots. The noise will change with the gradual heating of the sensor.

Yea Thanks Joe.

There are a few options to play with, but with the blacked out shots (i did take 2 with the cap on at the end) whatever options I have used so far, gives me a black image at the end, so there is more playing to do me thinks.

Im going to batch edit them in Aperture (because I did 1 Auto Enhance and the Milky way looked amazing) and try again and see what it brings up.

Know anything to do Time Lapse with ?? I have LR5 and PS CC (i got in before the 31st :D )

I sure do, check out this little program Time Lapse Assembler from Day of the new Dan..

Its a super simple program and very fast also.

What I do is batch export my images and make sure they are 1920x1080 for best resolution. Also make sure you export them as JPEG.

When you open TLA you will be prompted with a few simple options, choose the folders with the jpegs in it (They must me in order), Hit the Encode and it will ask for the name of the file you wish to create. Then in just a seconds you will have a working video file.

This is what I do, then drop the video files into iMove and add sound from there.

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks Joe, funnily enough, I had that in my stable of Apps, and looking at the info, was downloaded some time ago, so seems like the ole memory isn't what it use to be.
Thanks again.

In this area the warmer weather, finally, means Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC.

Hugh

What aperture did you shoot at - the DOF is nice and narrow but I'm not sure you focussed where you needed to (i.e on the middle bud)

Embarrassed really, Nick, because after I'd taken a few I realised that I had left the camera on manual from when I cleaned the CCD.
Looking at it again I can see what you mean about the focus.

It was set at 1/350 F5.6, testing out a newly bought Nikkor 28-80mm which was very well reviewed by Ken Rockwell. I'm surprised by the sharpness of it over the old 35-70mm I was using previously.

As I'm still trying to get to grips with real photography (I mean other than pointing my Lumix compact at things and pressing the button), I normally start on auto and then play with aperture or speed priority.

I bought a FujiFilm S2 Pro a couple of months ago to see how I got on and I can tell already the difference in quality over the Lumix.

Cheers :)
